The problem is, you're confusing ball hogs who are good dribblers... yes.....but don't know 'when' to let go of the ball. The best dribblers are the ones who know when to let go of the ball to get it farther down the field with a wall pass. On another note, didn't Johnny U' invent the first 'trick' of all QB's? The pump fake ? That is the trick that started it all!
The best dribblers need to know when to pass the ball for sure. It was fun to watch Totti with his bag of tricks in Orlando. The ball gets down the field a lot quicker by passing than by dribbling. no, that trick was around years before Johnny U. The Carlisle Indians probably invented it. Of course, one can do a couple of different "pump fakes" in soccer (passing, shooting) to set up a dribble or another shot that can be pretty interesting. It's fun to trick those defenders . . .
Hehe..thought Johnny U invented. Watched some bio on him years ago, and how he would just tear guys in half with his pump fake. LOL They'd be looking down the field, and he'd still have the ball in his hand. Ah how times change. Not a huge NFL fan lol. Yea. Fake shots, passes, and crosses are all great 'tricks'. I really like how El Mago Valdivia uses it in his game. Check '56secs'.
