"SIAD Czech, owners of Gambrinus Liga side FK SIAD Most, are reportedly planning to sell the club because of the racist jeering of their black players by Banik Ostrava fans.

According to club chairman Petr Kabicek, quoted on the iDnes.cz website, the chemical company’s management is unhappy with the bad press Czech football is receiving and has offered its majority stake to Most city council for 5.5 million crowns.

Since its budget was cut over the summer, the club has brought in increasing numbers of foreign players. The racist jeering occurred during an August 13th league game in Ostrava."

Racism is still an issue with a certain group of supporters here in the Czech Republic and sadly I don't see it going away in the near future.

I agree with the stuff. Just think if a Roma were playing what would happen. Still doesn't make much sense that they would sell because ANOTHER team's fans behaved like animals.

And that's the only reason? If it was making money, I doubt they'd sell the club.

The Bazaly is a great place to catch a game. But they do have a lot of the ultra culture there.

Ultra culture as in hard-core racist mentality? Surely the town of Ostrava as a whole doesn't share in such views, no?

Not all Ostrava fans are bad. However, there is a minority who like to cause problems. With that being said, Bazaly is definitely a good place to watch a game.

Last weekend, Sigma Olomouc started a stop racism and anti-semitism campaign, because of some things said by Sigma supporters.

It isn't just an Ostrava problem, it is a problem with a certain section of football fans in the Czech Republic.

Just like anywhere else, ultras are a minority, but they cause a majority of the problems.

A few problems over the weekend. Ostrava fans in Jablonec and apparently there were four 'incidents'. There was also a picture, and story, about Bohemians 1905 supporters fighting with stewards in Kladno. I assume the police got involved eventually.
