For the development of 'blue sky thinking ' such as we have above Perfectly obvious I'd have thought.
So I can say things like: If you're going to call them goaltenders perhaps just the one netminder with a hocky sized goal. It would save on wage bills.
Another fine example Actually, in that regard I'D be happy to take the job at one of the top clubs for, say, £1m a year. I could just lay down along the goal line. With a suitably sized pair of shin pads, (i.e. the width and height of the entire goal), I'd be effective both in terms of 'netminding' AND cost efficiency
How about if we get the goalie use his feet only and the outside players can use their hands . . . .? ;-) It would be a high scoring game.
I have an idea.. how about 2 keepers, one who can only use his left hand and left foot, and the other who can only use his right hand and right foot...
I think the two goalkeepers rule should be flexible. For instance, two keepers should be the norm, but if one of them is Scottish, then a third, or even a fourth goalkeeper should be allowed, just to make it completely equal. No team should ever be too harshly penalised for having a Scottish goalkeeper.
They should be tied together with a rope. Imagine Hugo Lloris trying to fly 20 yards of his line whilst Brad Friedel refuses to move an inch forward, it would be great.
... or an elastic band. They'd fly apart and then bang their skulls together like one of those Tom and Jerry cartoons... great entertainment for the public.
Yeah! Let's make the strikers wear big styrofoam heads, and we'd pretty much have a re-creation of "It's A Knockout"
Like the two keepers, but one gets a giant net, like the kind you use to catch butterflies. And he isn't restricted to just catching the ball with it. Can quietly place it just above a striker looking to head in a corner.
I remember a "serious" discussion couple of eons back. One fellow, tired of his team hitting the woodwork suggested make the goal posts 16" wider and crossbar 8" higher that way the team could score goals. I would say keep the square footage the same (192') then make the goal 6' wide. Then all those professional players who blast the ball way high and over a normal goal would have a chance to score.
Watching the Man City vs Spurs game right now....two 'keepers for Spurs might not be enough in this game....
Hahaa fair point! Would make the game funny and can you imagine Torres if he had to face 2 goal keepers!
