Well all the speculation around Him moving to a host of Clubs like:

    Juventus
    Inter
    Manchester United
    Real Madrid

Lets hope he sticks around another year. Portugal once again has enough coefficient points to have its Champion go right into group play in the CL.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Sporting for once advance a little further in Europe. To do this it must keeps its core of youngsters together.

I also hope for the player's sake that he sticks around for another year. Hopefully, Sporting will resist, but I don't expect him to play for the Lions next year.

WHy should he leave? It would be career suicide for him. He's not even 20 yet! Look at Simao, he left young...flopped at Barca and thank god Benfica came along otherwise Simao would be part of the famous group of Portuguese flops (Gil, Paulo Alves, Peixe....etc..).

Quaresma should stay until 22-23 and then leave.

Exactly! Simao is the Perfect example! He can only get better playing in the SuperLiga. He has plenty of time to move. But I doubt it. They will offer too much money!

I think we can all agree that from a player development perspective, it is best for him to stay for AT LEAST another year. Hugo Viana could have benefited from staying in Portugal for one more season. In retrospect, he would have been the perfect player to fill the void for JVP over the past 8 weeks.

However, when you start considering the finances behind these deals, it is not surprising that these players are leaving early. By most accounts, Quaresma could fetch over $15M, with a portion of that (10%???) going directly to his pocket. It is hard to walk away from a lump sum of $1.5M. Further, Viana’s salary went up 20-fold or something when he signed with Newcastle. Again, hard to refuse a raise of that magnitude. And, for Sporting, an infusion of $15-$20M is again hard to resist.

This is going to come down to economics. For that reason, I don’t expect to see Ricardo in Lisbon next year, so watch him while you can.

He will be gone by December and Ronaldo will be gone in 1-2 years.

You guys don't pay attention to the game that much do you?

The Economics of the game at the moment have been hit by this little thing called "reality". No team outside Real Madrid (govn't money), Bayern Munich & Manu (Legit business) will shell out E15 mill for a player that has yet to shave.

The TV money is drying up and drying up in a big way. You'll see more and more players staying in their respective leagues rather than go abroad!!!

There are a good number of young, exciting players in the SuperLiga. Besides the obvious suspects (e.g., Simao, Quaresma, Ronaldo), you have the Ferreiras, Candido Costa, Cesar Peixito of Porto; Neca; Tonel of Academica, Ednilson, Moreira, Rocha, Tiago and Miguel of Benfica; Carlos Martins of Sporting; and hosts of others. These guys will form the foundation of the seleccao moving foward.
