To the 96 D-I programs that haven't bothered to announce their incoming players for 2012, the "dreaded" shit list will be published a week from today.

You have till then to avoid being on it.

I don't expect the perpetual shit list coaches like Ed Kelly at Boston College, Seamus McFadden at San Diego, Richard Nuttall at Hofstra and, of course, the namesakes - UConn's Ray Reid and Dave Masur of St. John's, to suddenly change their ways and start caring enough about promoting their program and their players and college soccer in general and announce their recruits between now and next week.

    But...

For the likes of Sasho Cirovski at Maryland, Jorge Salcedo at UCLA, Elmar Bolowich at Creighton, Ken Lolla at Louisville, John Bluem at Ohio State, John Kerr at Duke, George Mason's Greg Andrulis and John Trask at Wisconsin, more is expected of you because you've shown in the past that you care.

Get to it, please. It's almost three months since the end of signing day. Three months. That's longer than the actual season for most programs. There are very few kids left who don't know where they're going to school next fall and you certainly know who almost all, if not 100 percent, of your new players will be.

    Get it done.

As always, the three service academies are exempt from the shit list.... at least till the summer, when the academies formally announce all their new students.

You do realize that it is up to the Sports Information department to put that info out, not the head coach. The coach may have passed along that info but the SI person who does soccer may have a spring sport that is taking up their time.

If the SI person has a spring sport, then its usually on the head coach to send the SI person that guts of the press release so the SI person can format it and post it. If Ray Reid wants his recruiting class posted, its going up there... no excuses.

My guess is half of these schools just want to piss off Sandon! :D

Usually that information gets up not long after the coach sends it in, because an SID in a properly staffed department (we have four guys here at ETSU) has enough free time to make it happen fairly quickly.

From my experience, what the delay usually results from is coaches waiting on a player or two to get everything in order. Coaches like to put their recruits up in one big release, and if a guy is slow getting his paperwork in or is having issues with immigration or academics, they'll wait for him so the SID only needs to do one release. That can be frustrating for fans, but it's certainly not because coaches don't care.

    Patience is a virtue. :)

Northridge is usually one of the last. June 9 last year, April 28 in 2010 and June 19 in 2009. The occasions when I've emailed the SID about it, the reply indicated that it was due to the coach not sending the information over.

Sometimes it is the coach waiting, sometimes it's the SI department. I can tell you one thing from experience...their is no sports info department in the nation that you would consider "properly staffed" if you really think that means having plenty of free time.
