Wednesday have looked safe for a few weeks, now, but this one makes it official. SWFC will spend '14-'15 in the championship. one can't speak too highly about the job that stuart gray has done since replacing dave jones.
lost to the tractor boys. oh well mid table finish was more than a lot of folks thought we'd accomplish. UP THE OWLS! f*ck the blades!
I was just about to come here with that. takeover rumors have been swirling for a few days, now, and it's all come to pass. this fellow purchased Racing Lens - another historically strong club fallen on hard times - and brought them back to the first division in France. according to all I've heard from Lens fans (and there's been some input on SWFC message boards), he's been good for their club and respectful of their traditions (read: he hasn't tread on them). lots of optimism at Hillsborough today, I'm sure. Big thanks must go out to Milan Mandaric. to say he's kept his pledge of 'leaving the club better off than I found it' is a massive understatement. if he's made a nice wedge from this, I don't begrudge him in the slightest.
how much did he really have to do with that? he's only owned them for a year now, right? they were always positioned to be one of the likely teams to come back up to ligue 1. to his credit, and unlike many other owners, he apparently did well to not stand in their way... but i'm not sure lens wouldn't have been promoted this season with or without him. i don't mean that to sound negative about what looks to be our new owner, but i think he may already be getting too much credit from hopeful fans. one thing's for sure, he's definitely got his work cut out for him at s6.
