Eddie Johnson is on the team. No reason why Parker can't next cycle. Looks like he won't make it to senior NT, has the US as a 2nd option. Maybe 2018 Russia.

How is eddie johnson a lock? In his last euro games at both striker and winger- he was one of the worst players on the field if not they worst. The world cup teams are going to be even better.

He is terrible at everything except running fast without the ball and set piece heading. But Klinsmann likes him. EJ played the wrong sport.

That set piece heading is something that could win us 3 points come summer time.

Only thing though is EJ is pretty much non-existent outside CONCACAF is his aerial game.

Game ends 0-0. What a snoozer. Mainz is such a boring team to watch.

I thought it was a decent match until around the 65th, from then on the quality just dropped a few notches. Anyway Parker was basically invisible.

Mainz's strategy half the time is kicking long balls up to the forwards. They frequently use a 4-4-2 diamond, which is an excellent long-ball formation. That's just not Parker's game.

I thought it was odd that Tuchel threw on EMCM and Parker at the same time...they're both ball stoppers who cancel each other out and are kinda antithetical to Mainz's style. Koo ran out of steam so they could have subbed one of the 2 in and left Okazaki in longer.

Hearing Jurgen Klinsmann is pushing harder to get Arsenal's Gedion Zelalem & Mainz's Shawn Parker to choose the USMNT. Hardly a slam dunk.

Gedion Zelalem is not even a citizen, right? Anyhow, GO KLINSI!

Sounds like a cheating husband :)
I give props to JK for never giving up on a prospect. Other coaches that we had would just make the kid go through the youth setup and then "we will see".

So.........Who is he (JK) not pushing for or who does Wahl think he's not pushing for?? Curious because Wahl mentions "pushing harder". That could insinuate anything, really.

Well, Zelalem's situation is so complicated that most coach's wouldn't see the value. It's probably a little easier for Jurgen to recruit against Germany and seem credible.

Parker is starting today vs Hertha. We really need to try to get this kid.

Who has attitude issues and has not shown anything special at senior level so far? You're welcome. Just don't complain when he turns up for the US national team and looks average.

Looking promising today though. The TV guy said Tuchel praised him for a great week in training.

Interesting that JK would still be pushing for him if he has attitude issues. As for talent, as a 21 he hasn't done bad for himself:

He played really well today. Tuchel has basically been saying that Parker is playing so well in training that he basically was force to play him. That doesn't sound like someone with attitude issues.

Based on what I saw today, I have no issue saying he's one of the US's best 23 players. He's a winger, and that's definitely an area where the USMNT is lacking.

To me it sounds the opposite. He may have attitude issues but because he trained well he was forced to play him.
