Manchester City's England international winger Shaun Wright-Phillips says the backing he gets from fans is the reason he does not want to leave the club.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a big-money move to Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool this summer.
But Wright-Phillips told The Sun: "I am not thinking of moving. It is my home, the fans have really taken to me.
"I went from the youth team to the first team and the fans supported me all the way. I'm settled here."
Wright-Phillips also believes he can build on the form that saw him called into the England squad last season.
He added: "You can always get better and always improve so that's what I do.
"I work on my whole game and learn from the people around me, who I've benefited from tremendously, or the new players who come in to the club.
"I'm always learning and you are never too old to stop learning new things and improve your game."
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope that settles this for now. Well the whole of next season at least.

And last season we had this kid on our squad who wore a "Once a Blue, Always a Blue" tshirt and professed his love for Everton and the fans... and then up and left for Manchester United.

I'm just saying that I'll bet this comes back to bite SWP in the ass. Money almost always wins.

Papers are saying we're in with big money.
That debt you have could undo eveything.

Remember when we had to sell Wilkins because of it?

    It's a total bastard.

well the latest news that ive saw off of the bbc is that city turned down a 16mil bid from newcastle. i dont think that they will sell swp for nothing less the around 25 because of the impact he can have on the team to preform well and win money through higher finishing places and going after a good cup run. look at this year we shouldve been in the ueafa cup.

Chelsea are poised to make another high-profile swoop after reportedly agreeing an £18m deal for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Both The Sun and the Daily Mirror revealed that the Premiership champions had agreed a five-year deal with the 23-year-old England international.

City boss Stuart Pearce had hoped to keep the highly-rated Wright-Phillips, who signed a new contract last season.

But the club are heavily in debt and could not refuse the offer.

Wright-Phillips, joined City in the summer of 1998 having been a trainee at Nottingham Forest and has played almost 150 games for the club.

Arsenal were also thought to be keen to sign him but could not compete with the spending power of Roman Abramovich.

Spurs and Chelsea in Arneson deal

Chelsea, who have also agreed a compensation deal with Tottenham over sporting director Frank Arneson, spent £8m earlier in the summer for Athletic Bilbao left-back Asier Del Horno.

Should the deal go ahead, City may be able to use some of the money to pursue Southampton's England striker Peter Crouch.

Even the club has taken the unusual step of denying this:
    http://www.mcfc.co.uk/article.asp?article=287410&Title=City comment on speculation

Manchester City have moved to quash the latest speculation concerning Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Two of Saturdays newspapers had reported similar stories linking the City star with Chelsea one even claiming that a deal to transfer the midfielder had been agreed.
"Shaun has not been sold, we have received no bids for him nor will we encourage any," City's Head of Communications, Paul Tyrrell told mcfc.co.uk.
"It is unusual for the club to comment on totally speculative stories such as these; however we want to set the record straight on this important matter.
"It is sadly predictable that tabloid newspapers publish stories during the transfer window which sometimes play fast and loose with the facts."
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 'newspapers' must think they know transfers before the clubs involved.

This is a real "classic" deal .
Sell SWP so they can fund a move for crouch.
I cant believe that big lump crouch is so sought after.

If you are going to sell him, please don't sell to Chelsea.

No top strikers want to go there. That should tell SWP something.

Here we go again (from the BBC):
Chelsea have tabled a £32m offer for Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard. (Various)

The Blues will also this week to complete a move for Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, with their current £18m offer £2m under City's asking price. (Express)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
So it looks like Chelski will meet the asking price as set by Wardle. :(

SWP would be a more productive and realistic buy than gerrads.

Chelsea have now missed out on Stevie G and it looks like Essien as well. They will now stop at nothing to bring in SWP and unfortunately I think Chelsea are very close to selling price.

Chelsea are poised to move in with a firm bid for Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips after missing out on Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
BBC Sport understands City have yet to receive an official offer from Chelsea, but an approach may now be imminent.
Manager Jose Mourinho is back from a break and wants the deal done quickly for the 23-year-old England star.
Chelsea are likely to bid around £18m, but that will not be enough and City will demand at least £22m.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So no offers yet, but all this talk of a definite deal being done?
Anyway, if Chelsea make a firm offer, especially such an amount, how can City resist?

Today's UK papers trotting out the same story (not just the Times):
Shaun Wright-Phillips will join Chelsea for £22m from Man City. (Times)

Sounds now like a case of not 'if', but 'when'. :(

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has praised the way Shaun Wright-Phillips has handled the speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
Reports have claimed the Premiership champions are close to signing the 23-year-old England winger for a fee in the region of £20m.
"All the rumour in the newspapers would turn a lot of people's heads," Pearce told the club's website.
"But Shaun's reaction has been fantastic. He is incredible."
Chelsea and Arsenal have both been heavily linked with Wright-Phillips, who was City's joint top goalscorer with 11 goals last season and made his England debut.
But Pearce added: "He is the same player who has come in from the start of pre-season wanting to play for Manchester City.
"I genuinely believe that he loves the football club and all credit to him.
"He conducts himself, for a young man, in a fantastic way. He is very professional on the training ground.
"He will put as much in on a training pitch as he does on a match day. A few more Shaun Wright-Phillipses in the game and we managers would be delighted.
"The speculation has been a little bit tedious.
"He has not come to me to talk over things. On the odd occasion that we have mentioned it to him he has seemed non-plussed about it."
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hardly surprising is it, as it all seems to be paper talk and no actual bid has been put forward.

i have a feeling its a Essien or SWP, just like the del horno and kaladze issue. Chelsea are trying to create a healthy competetion in the transfer market. SO that clubs that already intend to sell, will not be overly unreasonable since chelsea wil not be desperate for one particular player

Well, you didn't think you would escape punishment for being the only team to get the better of Chelsea in the League last season, did you?

They just ripped your heart out...

But cheer up, Andy Cole is coming...mediocrity personified, how appropriate, because mid table is where you will be again, I suspect.

Ermmm....as much as I pains me to say - we could only dream currently of getting the better of Chelsea and finishing in mid-table Premiership.

    I support QPR.
