Guerin Sportivo magazine, one of the Italy's most famous sports magazine was first published in 1912. In its edition publicated on 1987 February 24; they made a special resume, called 66 Stranieri ai Raggi X doing a review for all foreign footballers who played in Serie-A, since the reopening of the league for non-italian players. The seasons covered were: from 1980-81 to 1986-87 (this last season partially) In these seasons, Serie-A has been formed by 16 clubs. Thanks very much for this. Massively appreciated. Somebody rep this man for me, I need to spread it around.
You're welcome mate I'll hope post all seasons in a close time. BTW, the grade that i see on Guerin Sportivo were 4 (lower) and 8.5 (higher). I don't know what's the scale. I imagine from 1 to 10, but certainly it increases every 0.5 points, just like Netherlands league and actual Serie-A ratings.
Looking forward to see Diego's and Platini's ratings. (The highest I've seen over a full season is Messi @ 7.33 by Don Balon, but I think Guerin is stricter) EDIT: Hope this doesn't get this thread infested with Messi vs. XXY BS. :/
Guerin d'Oro Since the 1975-76 season the Italian weekly magazine "Guerin' Sportivo" gives awards to the best player, best trainer and best referee from Serie A. The awards are given based on the weekly ratings given by the Italian media during each week of the season. Any Serie A player, no matter their citizenship, is eligible. Re: Top 5: Season 1981-82 Msioux, looking at the list of Guerin d'Oro winners, I just noticed that Baggio is the winner in the 2000-01 season when he played only 25 Serie A games for Brescia (being out injured for three and a half months of the campaign). Considering this, am I correct in assuming that the magazine would give out the award to the player with the highest average rating, no matter the amount of games that the player has featured in, in that season? Or did the magazine have a required minimum games limit for a player to be eligible for the award?
Re: Top 5: Season 1981-82 Estel, I'm not sure about your question But, i'll go for the last one (minimun games required). Since in your example, for the 2000-01 season there were played 34 games. So, in Baggio's stats, it would be 25/34 = 0.73 Most magazines usually required as a minimun 0.67 of matches in a full season to nominated a player.
Re: Top 5: Season 1981-82 Ok Misoux. If you find any other players winning the Guerin d'Oro with a relatively less no. of games then then pls do highlight that as well, if possible.

Re: Top 5: Season 1983-84 What a tight race between Platini Zico and Falcao However Platini got a slight advantage in playing at UCL cup perfomrance over Zico that year - even before his Great Euro
Re: Top 5: Season 1983-84 In the World Soccer rankings for 1983, these were the places for players acting in Serie-A: 1) Zico 2) Platini 3) Falcao In the rankings for 1984: 1) Platini 3) Zico 8) Rossi Meanwhile in Ballon d'Or only euro players were available to prize, those years
Re: Top 5: Season 1983-84 Any idea what these rankings were based on? Was it a reader poll or was it something more credible than that?
