Yes, I could figure out a way to try and word it so it fit your current pattern, dividing it up into the "used", "available" and "traded", but the numbered list with a name, "open" or the team that currently holds it seems easier to understand (but takes up more space)
His replacement is Sean Mearns. Get ready to change Bruce Morgan. I also heard that both trainers are now gone, Bruce and Hank. Talking to a couple players they said that the new guy is coming in from another MLS team. And that he has a really good reputation around the league for using the latest and greatest technologies. They seemed really excited.
And now we have the rights to Mike Fucito. http://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/2013/01/earthquakes-acquire-fucito-timbers
Wow, Fucito? That 'a out of left field.. I wonder if that's telling of a move at FW we'll be making...
Im not sure, maybe it will just make us set at forward. I think that may be more of whats going on, but who knows. With Fucito we are absolutely set at forward. now we look at central defense and central mid for the draft i hope
yup.....and thats the exact dynamic many of us were hoping to add at the forward position. We are now set at forward
Our second round choice is midfielder Dan Delgado, so here is the update. In addition to updating out rights area, I have added Fucito with a "pending contract" note. I put one of these next to Corrales and Dawkins as well. I am also cleaning up the Int Slot area for more clarity. ____________________________ Salary Budget Roster 1. They did - Here's a good Wiki page that is kept up to date that shows the complete details for all MLS International slots. It shows the trade history, as well as which players take up Intnl slots and which players don't. You can see that RSL traded two slots permanently back in 2004 and 2005. The story is that was when some of the International slots were designated as "Youth International" and were only able to be used on players under a certain age (23 I think). So RSL apparently didn't think they were that useful and traded them away. When MLS changed the rules, all International slots became regular ones and RSL's trades look even dumber than they were originally.
At some point MLS should invalidate those trades. The notion that an FO can handicap a franchise long after they are gone is way off. MLS should simply put a 5 year limit on the term for these trades and don't grandfather any of them through.
Yes deals like that, giving something away for a song, usually end up being resolved with armed conflict...
oh id like to think we roll with a full 30. we are gonna need it. I want all hands on deck for MLS and maybe even a champions league run.
I pretty sure we've talked about this over a couple of different threads. I believe that CCL teams no longer get extra players, but they do get allocation money to offset the cost of acquiring depth within the 30 roster spots they do have.
So basically, as of right now there are 26 players. No one knows if Dawkins is coming back or not so therefore, there are only 4 spots on the roster to be won.
By my count we have seven open spots, because none of our draft picks or supplemental picks have officially been signed yet. Heck, even though Fucito, Corrales and Dawkins are listed, they have also not yet signed, so that number might be ten. In addition, many of the off-budget spots might get moved around as it is not uncommon for the drafted players of last year to be let go to give the new draftees a chance. It's just the beginning of camp, and I would expect some substantial movement.
Ramiro, in his conversation with Robert Jonas today, is talking like he will be back. I think it's highly unlikely Muller and Delgado don't get signed. I think Faucito and Gargan are almost certain. So, I think 5 of the 10 are, for all intents and purposes, taken. Stephenson is in camp despite being waived. Harden is in camp from re-entry draft but not Bryan Jordan. Then, Dawkins is up in the air. I don't know if the rumored desired loan of Adam Smith from Tottenham is just rumor or serious. Then the 3 supplemental picks from today and Falvo's cousin should join tomorrow . Plus we have the rumor of Ibarra in as well. Then there was the back and forth rumor of the Salvadoran international coming on the 28th. So I think that's 4 slots plus the possibility of a 5th if they can't get Dawkins. And there's 7 or 8 guys vying for those 4 slots (not counting Smith). There's probably going to be some others we know nothing of as well.
"Ibarra" is brain fart on my part (he was a guest player for us too) that I mixed up with Jose Cuevas from the Battery and Fuego. He played with our reserves once that last year and supposedly was invited to camp this year. The Salvadoran is Isidro Gutierrez from their National team. We heard he was coming for a trial and then that he wasn't and then that he could if the Quakes sent an official request to his club team. No idea if he's coming or not, but I think he'd be a very good player to trial, particularly if we can't get Dawkins back.
Ramiro is going to play himself into the ground... I understand he's still able to play with the kids and he wants to go down as the last man standing from MLS' inaugural season, but I'm afraid his career will end with an injury rather than a dignified retirement. I want to see him as an assistant coach soon, but on the field, I think it's safe to say we have better options there now, and to keep him on taking up a roster spot is something to question.
