Well if it is a team from central america in the US it's going ti be good for us. I have seen a couple of the teams play and they have a good level, El Salvador played well against Mexico, and Guatemala did the same against the US. Btw Panama was impresive against Hoduras, so any of those teams would be a good sparing. We would be the visiting team unless the game is played in Washington. Hope it is in Washington I would make the trip out there to see this "yunger" Bolivia.
http://facetasdeportivastv.com/nota.php?id=23702 Now this is some bad news, just when things were looking a bit better the crooks from la liga push this guy out. This is why we can't move fwd, too many people got their special interests as a priority, instead of the national team.
There is video of his resignation in youtube. He looks beat, frustrated and upset. We will never get out from the bottom this way. The a-hole to his right, Chavez, needs to die for things to get better. This does not surprise me in the least.
I'm in Bolivia right now and rumor is that Azkargorta is next in line. Plus I hear that Emelec will announce Quinteros as their next head coach in the next few hours.
I am indifferent to Quinteros leaving, I think he was never the right choice however the way La Liga refused to work out a deal for extra days was unacceptable. At the same time we are talking about a guy who won a game in two years being in charge of our NT, he never took responsibility for his actions and what is worst he was Chavez's pet. I don't want Azkargorta he is out of touch with futbol today. Azkargorta hasn't coached in over 10 years and he is such an icon I would hate for his legacy to get tarnish by this qualifier. I want someone who has BALLS, like Baldivieso but that isn't going to happen. My bet is for a company man someone who won't get affected if our team doesn't win another game Ramiro Blacutt or Carlos Aragones who knows they might be able to convince Valdimir Soria.
Spain's Marca highlighted El Bigoton's possible return to la seleccion. http://www.marca.com/2012/07/05/futbol/futbol_internacional/resto_de_america/1341509119.html
Apparently Quinteros didnt get the boot...he quit! He probably had a better offer from emelec and said "Screw this! we are not qualifying anyway!"
Am not a big Quinteros fan, he did only win 2games. However the team was headed in the right direction, they understood his plan and executed it as best our players can. Quinteros could not walk on to the pitch and score against Chile, Campos shit his pants in front of the net, and that cost us 3 points. What makes you say he was a pet for Chavez? I think he was pushed out by a Mauricio Mendez the leagues president, by a total lack of respect for the national team, I dont think he quit because he had a better offer. About the next coach, lets face it who will want to work where the conditions change every time the league has a change of heart? All we can do is hope for the best.
I would have to disagree with you. He was a winning coach up until he got the the national team. I don't think he stood a chance to show what he could do. I look forward to seeing him flourish somewhere again. The problem is not the coach, it is the mafia that Chavez and Mendez control. Quinteros had to give up three months-behind salary and pay $35K to the FBF so he could be let go of his contract. Azkargorta is not the answer either, I think the success in 1994 had more to do with the quality of players in one generation, than good coaching. El bigoton flunked big time elsewhere (Chile, Chivas, etc.). The bottom line is that they could bring Guardiola and it would not change thing much. We have not hit rock bottom yet, fellas...
^^^^^^ not a Mendez fan, I think both Mendez and Chavez are the cancer killing Bolivian Futbol. However I strongly believe Quinteros was way over rated. Quinteros was champions with both Bolivar and OP two teams that have an unfair advantage when it comes to spending for players, but Quinteros in a more modest team like Aurora or Universitario; Quinteros would sink. http://erbol.com.bo/noticia.php?identificador=2147483960832 ^^^^ Again not a Mendez or Chavez fan but if you read the article two things stand out 1) “Si tenía tantas ganas de trabajar por qué no fue a Potosí a ver partidos. Pregúntenle cuándo estuvo en Sucre, cuando fue a La Paz”, comentó en tono molesto el titular de la Liga. ^^^^ I agree, Quinteros lived in Santa cruz never went to seek out talents in the rest of the country. (that's why Chavez was always called up while Micky Loyaza in Potosi was killing the past two seasons and has yet to make the final list for the NT 2) “contó con 90 días, mucho más que Erwin Sánchez, que hizo una mejor campaña con menor tiempo ^^^^^^ He won two games one against Paraguay and the other against the Cuba u-23 team!
^^^ so he finally wins a match and now he leaves.what a joke. His name is "el pirata" for a reason. He is a good coach but a very limited one because of his lack of in-game decisions. Erwin Sanchez had less time to prepare and a better record so that should make it more clear. As someone who supported quinteros when he took the job ,I could not care much that he left.i don't think our talent is lacking(certainly isn't one of the best) but our federation and league frustrates our process to the point where there is no confidence in our NT
So, looks like Azkargorta will be DT and Baldiviezo will be his assistant, although Baldivieso said he wants to be DT.
Quinteros never paid a cent he says so himself as a mater of fact Quinteros states that Bolivia had paid him in full
He says he never gave money to la federacion and that they gave him money...that doesnt mean he did not pay his clausula de recision. I still, after watching this video, think he quit because, like rats on a sinking ship, he wanted to save his reputation (he goes out of his way to highlight his successes). While honestly i think he is a decent coach and believe he will be successful at emelec, i still think he quit because of what he perceived as a better opportunity now that the ship is sinking so early on.
So now rumor has it that baldivieso declined because he wants to be the lead coach and instead sandy will stay.
maybe he didnt pay, since FBF didnt pay him for a couple of months, they just took the money out of there and gave him the difference... or maybe Emelec paid...many posibilities
Also Emelec just qualified for this year's Copa Sudamericana, so we'll be seeing more of Quinteros and perhaps he can take some of our guys with him.
I don't know if it's official yet but all the signs point to Azkargorta. While I totally disagree with this decision, we must unite under AZ. The only good thing is that Sandy is staying, that should provide a little continuity between el Pirate and AZ
I've heard what Quinteros said and what Mendez said, and frankly anytime the coach leaves in such a manner and the next day has a team to coach tells me Quinteros QUIT on Bolivia. I think the majority defended him when he kept loosing games, now I have lost a great deal of respect for him. He didnt get what he wanted from the League, eventhough the arguments are that he got more than any other coach, so he bolted. How is this different from what Botero did to the National Team? Same thing if you ask me.
http://www.la-razon.com/marcas/futbol/acuerdo-Azkargorta_0_1649835048.html It seems it will be made official on Monday: Azkargorta is back as DT of Bolivia. Honestly I think his biggest attribute was his psychological work with the players; he made them BELIEVE. We'll see how it goes this time around!
