Not sure why drop Robinho for Ronaldinho. Maybe you can say drop Robinho for Lucas but for Ronaldinho i wouldnt do it.
Its funny, Ronaldinho has a sequence of 2,3,4 consecutive good games and everyone wants him with the national team but it wasn’t to long ago that Rubro Negro fans were booing him at the Engenhão for his poor performances. Congrats for his recent form but lets take this a little slow.

You can't cancel something that was not secured..............they still intend to play them. Anyway, it is England or the Swiss in November (so hopefully one game I can see in the stadium!).

they canceled them so we wouldn't get embarrassed lol. I wish we would have played Spain just to see how far off we are right now.

hmmm, looks like one of us got the story wrong.

"The work will continue in the same vein. We had already expected these difficulties," Teixeira told the Times of India "The CBF will choose tougher opponents for the Brazil national side. The project has not changed, Mano will gain the knowledge this team needs."
Meanwhile Menezes commented: "Since I took over the national team a year ago, this was the first team that has played better than us, Germany must serve as a yard stick and that is why we need more matches at this level. There is no point sitting around waiting for miracles. We have to work hard to eliminate the individual mistakes we made in defence."

Seeing as Spain has lost every game after they won the WC ... maybe we shouldn't be so pessimistic.

I think its better this way, increase difficulty gradually and leave the tough friendlies for 2012 and 2013. These friendlies will also be decent tests where you can build confidence and chemistry. On the flipside, a young team going through a tough moment in a rebuilding process facing the world and european champion in Spain and a defensive powerhouse in Italy, experienced and already formed teams, is really not what they need at this point. Especially in a situation where everybody is already on Brazil and Mano's back. it could destroy the project altogether, and I don't see why people want to see now how Brazil would perform against them. Its not a bitch move, its a smart one imo.

Mano is also right when saying that from the big games so far Brazil only got outplayed by Germany. Argentina, Holland, France wasn't better than Brazil when they played against them.

I actually would not mind that idea but at the same time Spain and Italy would give us a better evaluation of the team and it also provides a better learning experience.

Also, with how we are currently struggling there might be more pressure to perform in the smaller games b/c we are expected to win by a good margin and play well. A 1-0 win against Gabon will not fly well with the public and Mano can get fired because of it.

Well it depends on the performance. A 1-0 with a good performance should be well received.

I don't see the need for evaluation now. Copa America was a good test and so was Germany. Now theres the need to pick things up. Ultimately, theres only one real evaluation and its the WC. The players aren't ready for the big guns now, they need to stabilize; a possible bad defeat could ruin their future in the Selecao and maybe even their careers.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the friendlies we have picked. I just wished the Egpyt friendly was during a FIFA date as it would have been a good test for the main players. Instead, we'll get a bunch of Brazil based players who are going to have to fly to Egpyt, I assume.

But either way, these are all diverse opponents -- I mean, we could have a group that features Costa Rica, Switzerland, and Egypt. I have no complaints. I don't really know why we would pick Gabon though. At least their ranking is somewhat decent, if you buy into those sorts of things. I can't even name one Gabonese player.

i'd be good with portugal, montenegro, or uruguay. i think uruguay would probably be the most useful game for us to play at the moment. i think montenegro is an intriguing game merely because they have gotten a lot better recently and could debut in WC 2014.
