he'll probably stay another year to try and prove critics that he can be a Pro-Style QB... Tim Tebow smh.

Auburn won't switch from the spread option to the pro set on order to prepare him for the NFL. They'll continue with the spread since it makes the best use of his abilities.

I hope not. I can't take another year of that guy...both talent-wise and story-wise (much like Tebow.)

Plenty of SEC Players leaving today
Ridley from LSU, Cobb from Kentucky
Sounds like an NFL contract sounds a lot better to Cam than what he's paid now.

ESPN reported Newton is declaring for the NFL draft. This is the right decision for him. No telling what might come out if the NCAA investigates the matter of his dad's alleged shake down of colleges or what Cam actually knew of his dad's activities. Still Newton needs a lot of work to be a good pro quarterback. He and Mallet are projects. Tons of athletic ability particularly for Newton, but lacking in the skill and experience necessary for the next level.

I don't know why you think either of these guys is going to need that much more work than the average to touted QB draftee. Contracts are awarded based on performance at the B(C)S level, and with nothing more to judge on, that's how it ought to be. Don't sweat NFL players not living up to their college acolades. I'd rather be Ryan Leaf than Dusty Bonner (who was as good but didn't get the same chance at the big money because of a coaching change and the resulting transfer), and I'd rather be Cam Newton than Dave Mustaine (who joined a franchise that focused on the running talent at hand --as they should have-- and then stupidly transferred to a university that already had two great QBs and got another).

Because they have lot's of issues with their mechanics.

    Newton:
    • Tends to throw from his back foot a lot.
    • His footwork is sloppy
    • Has not learned to read defenses well.
    • Does not go through his progressions looking for alternate receivers if they are covered.
    • Relies almost exclusively on his team's system of signaling plays and audibles from the sidelines. I'm not sure if he can audible and make player adjustments on his own.
    • Played in a spread option offense, never handled the ball under the center.
    • Arm strength is good.
    • Can throw ball with touch.
    • Can adequately make all the throws required.
    • Has good accuracy throwing the ball.
    • Possesses intangibles in his ability to make plays.
    • Is extremely athletic.

i'm not sure he's Jamarcus Russell strong, but Russell couldn't throw the ball into a 10 foot circle at 60 yards consistently.

Newton's touch is very good for someone his size.

His accuracy is good, but I'm not sure he's accurate enough for NFL, given the size and speed of linemen and quickness of NFL DBs.

If that happens you will hear a big I told you so from me and the Heisman will be even further tarnished.

Huh? What do you think you've said here that we didn't already know, Alberto, and why do you think Auburn's season would matter any more or less because the NCAA discovered/decided that rules were in fact broken?

"Tarnished"? Are you saying someone out there actually gives a shit whether an award or title is revoked? Cam's got the Heisman and Auburn the B(C)S title. It doesn't make any difference what anyone in front of a mic says about either Cam or Auburn at this point. What we will remember is what took place on the field. All the rest (and that don't amount to much) is for bean counters.

Too bad your bar for right or wrong is set so low. Ask Reggie Bush how he feels having returned the Heisman. Ask his teammates how it feels vacating all those wins. Reggie bought shame on himself and USC.

I reached my opinion on Can and his "Reverend" Father on my own. There's enough cheating and hypocrisy in college football we certainly didn't need these two idiots to add their two cents.

It's locked on the poll/B(C)S setting, acknowledging that what is, is.

Why would I care what Reggie thinks about giving up the Heisman? All I care about is what happened on the field. AFAIC, the B(C)S could have kept the crystal ball. The game is what I saw and care about, not where Reggie lived or what kind of car he drove.

If I actually cared enough to ask someone about it, I'd ask Vince Young. He's got a right to be upset.

A shame you don't start at the beginning, then, and get around to Cam and Cecil after spending the next five or six months calling the roll of players and programs that skirted or broke the rules.

Cam and Auburn won a Heisman trophy and the BCS Championship. That matters greatly.

It matters to you because you don't get that any other SEC, Big XII or Big Ten team has the exact same thing going on. You found out about it in this case because Auburn, like USC, doesn't have the stroke to silence media like Alabama, OU, tOSU, Texas, and the rest of the big prominent state football factory schools that run this cartel.

If tOSU had the ability to quiet the media Terrell would be playing the first 5 games next year and MC would be in the NFL.
