It's going to be interesting to see what happens if a bunch of these suspended players decide to turn pro and go back on their word to Tressel. Personally, the whole suspended next season for five game and not for the bowl game smacks of hypocrisy. That said, the length of the suspensions is ridiculous given what the players did, sell their bowl rings and other memorabilia. God forbid they affected their amateur standing, by making money now by selling these goods. By God it's as if they were being paid to play! The NCAA is so paranoid. The players do this after their eligibility runs out and nobody gives a damn.

I was really holding out hope that all of them would declare, if all are NFL-caliber players and eligible timewise to leave. They should never have given Tressel their word that they would stay if there was any doubt. You certainly don't want to give a coach an ultimatum ("Either you let me do this or I'll go pro"), but as long as the NCAA wants to conduct itself like a monastery whle allowing the bigwigs in college football to run a cartel, no player needs to promise any of their lemmings anything. They could simply have said, "I don't know what I'll do, Coach. I'll accept your suspension, look at my options and we'll see how it turns out". You haven't lied and you haven't threatened or coerced anyone.

In fact, if the NFL would just relax its three years out of high school rule, a few of the best blue-chippers could maybe be one and done like college basketball and maybe put another dent in the talent pool of college ball. Take CFB down a few notches and make people remember again and again who the real athletes are.

Well we picked a stellar time to play our worst football, this is been an embarrassing first half. WTH Joe Adams you've had the best hands on the team and dropped two TD's. Pathetic. Im not giving up but its gonna have to get a lot better and fast.

Give it to Ohio State, they played a great first half and then held on when Arkansas made their second half run. Too many dropped passes, penalties and failure to capitalize on turnovers to beat a good team.

I give the Ohio State coaching staff all the credit in the world, especially whoever came up with those blitz packages, had our offensive line confused all night....I thought for sure we would win after that blocked punt. Oh well, It was a great season.

read my post a couple up the page. the blitzing of Mallett was textbook. Their DC is Jim Heacock and the LB coach/Co-DC is Luke Fickell. Heacock ought to get a shot either in the pros or as a head coach somewhere. He's good.

Big props to the Razorback fans that made it down to New Orleans. They made it a really fun atmosphere on Bourbon St. and all were very gracious in defeat. Hats off to you and good luck next season!

If you love your team, you'll be pulling for Oregon. We all compete for recruits with Auburn. Them winning the championship is only going to help them and harm us.

    We're all Ducks tonight.

Ima LSU fan.. and the fact that Auburn are BUYING top LOUISIANA talent from LSU.. makes me pull for Darron Thomas and the Ducks.

Also Darron was almost a Bayou Bengal.. but refused to play as an athlete here.. so I'll be rooting for him.

if it wasnt for Auburn pay for play  We woulda had Greg Robinson and Trovon Reed this class... smh Someone Tell Trooper Taylor that he should start searching for a new job.

What comes up...must come down

This describes Sean Nelson's position within the Auburn organization..if you wanna call it that. Sean Nelson is a 33 yr old Oil Mechanic at a local Thibideaux Wal-Mart.. and was the reason why 4 star recruits Trovon Reed and Greg Robinson were steered towards Auburn's direction and not to LSU's instead. Sean Nelson would give them rides to Auburn without their parents knowing about it. Greg Robinson's mother and grandmother were quoted as saying "I wouldn't know Greg's whereabouts when he was when Sean." Yea.. they were in Auburn the entire time.. and now Auburn or going to go through even more further investigation behind more acts like these.

Hay.. Tell me how much Auburn are willing to pay Cam Newton to stay his Senior year in college. I won't tell..for the right price and an Iphone ;)

Very disappointed by the result. Fair play would have dictated that Cam Newton would have lost the game.

I find it amusing that folks are still talking about how good a quarterback he will be at the next level. Yes, his mechanics are better than Vince Young, but otherwise he looks like a carbon copy. Everyone that wants to see how much learning and improving Newton needs should compare his performance last night with Andrew Luck. It really isn't even close. Newton and Thomas as well spent the majority of their time looking over to the sideline reading playing and generally taking direction on what to call. Luck took the play and then audibled at the line of scrimmage making adjustments on his own like a younger version of Peyton Manning. That impresses me a lot more than sitting in the pocket waiting to run .

Newton is successful because Auburn has designed a system that plays to his strengths plus he's 6'6" and weighs 250#.

If he can catch the ball, he's potentially a fabulous tight end, but he'd never accept that.
