Charelston at home, we are finally putting some goals in the net. Alvarez is coming around, Armstrong should be back after his one match "rest" Ian fuller is a question mark as he looked to come out of the match injured. Defense remains tough and I foresee 3 points here for the Battery. Seattle will be without O'brien due to Red card suspension. Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar is nursing an achilles problem. Not too mention well see how they react to a cross-country trip followed up with a hot, muggy Charleston night. I'm sure Auggie will go for the win on this match. I expect the Battery to come out fast and maintain pressure throughout the match. Seattle has to follow up Thursday match with a trip to Atlanta on Saturday so I'm sure that will way into there game plan. Le Toux is the Sounders most dangerous offensive weapon so if the Battery can contain him, Dusty should be able to get the shut out. the usual info applies Match kick off at 7:30, watch the match on USLlive.com.
Highs are supposed to be 94 tomorrow which means it'll still be 85+ at KO, hot muggy night indeed. The Flounders will be gasping for air. 3-1 for the good guys.
Looks like Seattle's starting keeper will be sitting out an additional match after a USL league reveiw of his red card against Carolina
Here is an article about Alvarez in todays paper. http://www.charleston.net/news/2007/jun/07/battery_star_thinking_mans_striker/ But here is the unfortunate news I was expecting Ian had 3 shots on goal and 2 goals and one assit in 241 minutes on the field. Ian looked like he was getting in the rythym of things so this must be tough news for him.
Good luck tonight guys ......... though I have to admit I'm a bit conflicted on this one, Seattle was my team before Charleston got one ... It is the battle of the two cities I claim as "being from" (Seattle as a little kid (til 9) and Charleston as a teenage (til 17)). May both teams play well, and Charleston get the winner in the 90th minute.
It's no contest......Teenager time trumps little kid time every time......where did you first drink alcohol? Where did you first get laid? That's what I thought.... GO CHARLESTON......The city that molded fatbastard into the man he is today!!
Ha, you have a good point - however, I first smoked a cigarette and drank beer in Seattle. Ranier beer at 8! I had not officially gotten laid yet when I moved, but I was a mean doctor-player So, yes, that advantage goes to SC And I did first partake of the sweet leaf in SC SC wins
Who is playing left back tonight??....how did he play??? Who has played left back all year and who is the back up??? Thanks
Lee Sandwana http://www.charlestonbattery.com/team_roster.asp?pid=1952 started at left back tonight (as he has all season) and he didnt do too well tonight IMO. he is normally pretty strong but he didnt' look sharp tonight. to be fair, he is a first year player and I dont think he was supposed to be starting this season but injuries may have force the coaches hand he was subed around the 70 and the right back came over to cover the left back position. that would be Chris Corcoran http://www.charlestonbattery.com/team_roster.asp?pid=1638 corcoran is one of those great utility players that can play just about anywhere the Battery ended up losing 2-1. the boys played like crap for the first 70 min and finally got some life in them for the final 20. Ian bennett, while on ly on the pitch for 20 min would be my Man of the Match he got stuck in strait away in midfield and got the Batterys sole goal. mikey
