We’re expecting a HUGE crowd at the tailgate on Sat so come early to ensure you get something to eat/drink. 2008 SE members drink for free with their ID card so make sure to bring with you (if you haven’t received it yet, stop by the membership table and we can verify you’re a member in good standing).

    Tailgate Passes
If you want to eat, you need a pass (guests need a pass if they're eating and/or drinking) Member passes are $6, non member $10. Please order passes in advance, it REALLY helps with menu planning if we know how many are coming.

You can pre-order passes for pickup at the ticket pick up table (next to membership) via Paypal by sending to payments@screaming-eagles.com (in the notes section, please indicate how many you are purchasing and if member or non-member). If you order by 4 pm Friday, April 4 we will have your name on a list, after 4 pm please print off your Paypal receipt and bring with you to the tailgate (we need a confirmation of pre-payment). At the tailgate turn in your pass at the tailgate check-in table where you will receive a wristband and then you can belly up to the buffet.

Passes for the tailgate are also available for purchase on the day of the game, cash only, at the SE ticket window.

Sides and Desserts Needed: The sides and desserts at the SE tailgate are made possible through the generosity of our members (sorry, there is no Sides and Desserts Pixie however we are taking applications!) As always, these items don’t have to be home made and you don’t have to bring enough to feed an army. If you can bring something to share, please contact Thea at thea@screaming-eagles.com so we know what to expect.

Expect to see the usual burgers, dogs, chicken and veggie options. The grilled pizza that was a huge hit last season will be making a return (and look for other delights to be introduced as the seasons progresses).

Volunteers: We’re set for volunteers to help during the tailgate but we can always use extra people to help set up (this is best for people coming by Metro as the parking lots aren’t open early enough). And if you help with set up you can first crack at the kegs, all tailgate volunteers get to eat for free that day. If you can help, send an email to Thea.

    Tailgate Timing

    3:30 pm Beverage tent opens

4:15 pm The Fabulous Buffet opens

    6:30 pm Buffet closes

7:00 pm Beverage tent closes, head inside

Paul will be by later in the week with the musical selections and the kegs info (which will be from the families of premium, mid level and whatever, I just want to get drunk).

Just a quick question, may seem silly but just wanted to check. The tailgate is all you can eat and drink right?

For members, it's all you can drink without paying anything (other than your membership fee).

For everyone, it's all you can eat and drink if you buy a tailgate pass ($6 for member, $10 for non-member).

And to add until the food and drink is gone. Best advice is to get there early - settle in for some good times and food and you will be sure to enter the game full. However, showing up at 6:15 and expecting to gouge yourself might not be the best plan of action.

The grillers, and as a former griller I speak from experience, will throw the food out there as quickly as we can but the line really starts building up by around 6 (at the latest).

Not trying to undersell the tailgate because we look a shit load of food - but just understand we don't have a limitless supply of cows wandering around Lot 8.

    Great, we'll see you there.

Now Doug, will you be there on Sat? We may need some tips on the pizza (not sure who will be the next pizza boy or girl).

I will be there but won't be arriving until around 5:30. I figure 4 hrs is about the maximum for a four year old - and with my child even that is about 3:45 minutes too long.

    Tips for the perfect pizza:

    - Go ahead and burn the first one - it is like a sacrifice to the grill Gods
    - Make sure you remember what side the cheese goes on - put that side down first (go ahead and screw up the second pizza as well)
    - Cover the cheese side with olive oil on the prep table, throw it cheese side down and slather the side face-up with olive oil over med to high heat
    - Flip it over - put the Italian seasoning on before the sauce and cheese
    - As you take off the first "good" pizza - go ahead and drop that one on the ground (along with any Veggie Dogs someone asks you to cook)

Hmmm, no wonder it felt like I was always cooking pizza but only got like three or four out over four hours. :D

Do I have to drop pizza? That seems like a waste of perfectly good food.

Veggie dogs on the other hand...I have no issue dropping those!

Although we love to kid... it IS a pretty high bar. Whenever I grabbed a slice it was invariably darn tasty.

In fact, far better than the "professional" stuff churned out at the inaptly named PHP!

So Paul, why don't you tell the nice people what beer you've lined up (I believe 2 of the 8 will be mystery kegs, yes?)

There will be 6 kegs and 2 ponies, and as of now four of them are mysteries - TheTurb is free to come on here and name the two he's buying. The other two will be a mystery until around 3 PM tomorrow.

7 of the kegs will be to quality. The 8th, well, you can see what it is below.

    As of now, we have:
    Guinness
    Bell's Oberon (a first-class spring/summer ale) pony
    Bell's Two-Hearted IPA pony
    Miller Lite

Congrats to the whole tailgate crew. It was a massive tailgate and we had probably the biggest membership day in Screaming Eagles history. Thanks to everyone who works hard to make that so!

Kudos also to those who volunteered on the spot to help out - it was really appreciated (especially the horde from Michigan)!!

Note for the future - just 8 kegs, what on earth were you thinking :p

PS - I will bring some non-alcoholic beverages for the set-up crew next time - dehydration avoidance is the way to go!

Once we rework our setup a bit to reduce some of the crowding and start bringing in the higher-quality food that our new connections will bring in, it's only going to get better :)

It will also get better when my IPod doesn't crap out on me 30 minutes before the end of the playlist!
