Now that the draw has taken place, it's time to start scouting and posting relevant information on our opponent's players, tactics, and news. Let the fun begin!

Is that what we did to them in 2002? Different teams, but we attacked them.

What does Klinsi want us to do? Attack. Impose our will.

    I don't see us bunkering.

I think we only scored 3 if my memory serves me quickly. There was a beauty by Ter Stegen and Howedes no?

Let me rephrase......we put 3 behind them and they gifted us one. I had a perfect bird's eye view of that goal. It was quite comical. Every one around us was having a laugh. The Germans......not so much. The chants coming from the American Outlaws were classic.

If there is one team that might freak out Low, it's the US.

JK knows him well, he knows the type of pressure that Germany will be feeling from the fans and press and he'll have the underdog mantra to ride to glory. Germany is expected to dismantle the US, but we now have a German coach who is familiar with what they will want to do. Who better to devise a game plan to beat them?

Someone in another thread noted that it's good that Germany don't have a top striker. Someone like Suarez, Falcao, Balotelli is worse for us. This is just trying to find the good in this, though. We're screwed unless they are through and play for a draw or whatever. Ozil, Gotze, Reus, Schweinsteiger, etc, etc....who the heck do they even play in midfield? How would you ever decide? Their like Spain with all those midfielders.

The type of game of how we play today/next year is very different to what we played back then. And you're clearly overstating the pressure. Sure, everyone in Germany expects Germany to win. Not to "dismantle" but to beat you. But then this pressure is always there cause they are expected to beat anyone but maybe Spain or Brazil.
We are a copy of them. We'll most-likely play the false nine. Given Khedira's injury it probably looks like
    -----------------Neuer-----------------
    Lahm-Boateng--Hummels--Schmelzer
    ------------Schweinsteiger--------------
    --------Kroos------------Özil-----------
    Müller---------Götze------------Reus
Yes. that's Germany A. Something you havent met so far. ;)

The best-case here is that Germany's sitting on 6 points with a +5 GD when we play them. Even up, a draw would be an amazing result. You don't want to go into MD3 and have to win.

Germany have won their group at the World Cup every time for the last six tournaments, with a cumulative record of 13 wins, 4 draws, and only 1 loss in the group stages.

Our group stage record over the same span is only 3 wins, 5 draws, and 10 losses.

If 2014 weren't played in South America, they (or Spain) would be odds-on favorites to win the whole thing. They are my second favorite team in the world. They will win the group. There is no question about it.

Our best hope is that we beat both Ghana and Portugal, rendering the Germany game moot.

The only advantage we have over Germany is the fact that between now and June, our squad will be able to see them enough on TV to learn every facet of every one of their games. Between that and Klinsmann having very intimate knowledge of the team and the program, we are the nation most likely to be able to set up a perfect tactical plan for the Germans. However, even that won't work against arguably (and I'd argue for it) the most talented team on the planet. So we really should hope we don't need points from this game to advance.

That goal was an awful error, but Ter-Stegen is one of the best GK's in the world. He will probably be the starting keeper for Barcelona in eight or nine months.

Germany is the best team in the world. They will win this World Cup. I expect Gotze to win player of the tournament. Phenomenal talent. Really worried to see Reus, Gotze, Muller, Ozil, etc. running at our full backs.

I don't see us beating Germany's best XI. If they are already through on match day three, maybe they will throw us a bone and play their back ups. Howard would need to play out of his mind for us to win this game. They will create a lot of chances with that attacking talent.

Aren't you just a bright little ray of sunshine :)

I'm with you though. Ghana is an absolute must. Those first 2 games are going to very ugly affairs. I expect a bunch of yellows and maybe a red or two for those first 2 games. I think some around here will finally learn the value of Jermaine Jones during those first 2 games.

Germany will not win in Brazil, heck, even with the support of the local fans, they could not even win at River Plate ;)
