I need to buy a bottle for the winter, become annual tradition.
Buy a bottle in November and it lasts me until March. Already
January and a few rare COLD days here in north JERSEY.

Just bought this bottle last Saturday, 1st real
Winter day in Jersey (5 inches of snow) to keep
the chill off, but guess I'm used to REALLY cold Winter
nights in Chicago. It is 10 degrees warmer here in NYC
    suburbs.

Not exactly my favorite, more on the floral, citrus, lighter side, but still quite nice.

My understanding is that Glenmorangie has changed recently, and some stores will have new recipe and others old.

I'm always late to these threads, it seems. But going back to literature for a moment, for anyone a bit nostalgic for the language their grandparents spoke, Lewis Grassic Gibbon's classic trilogy, "A Scot's Quair" is a fantastic read, if not exactly uplifting.

As for movies, I'll always fall back on "Gregory's Girl" and "Restless Natives."

How has this thread title gone un-edited for three and a half years? It's 'whisky', not 'whiskey'. Whiskey's Irish!

The 'e' is generally used in the U.S. too, so it's very understandable. I think my autocorrect sometimes even hits whisky.

Is discussing Scottish beers or Scottish style beers? Ok.

Having a mighty nice Wee Heavy by an American craft brewery:

That brewery is down the street from a buddy's house. The oaked Yeti stout is my favorite of theirs.

Happy Hogmanay all. Realized it's been 4 months since the last post in the subforum. I hope things haven't changed much since I ran around those parts...think I had a total of 3 Hogmanays there, but they tend to form one memory.

The place has become a ghost town since you left.

    I hope you're happy.

I think quite a bit has really changed. I was reading the other day about how the Beltane had become a ticketed event...sort of a silly example, but I thought it highlighted how some things are different.

Isn't any of the ticket money collected for charitable organisations?

Probably. But it signaled to me more that there is some air of officialness to everything, when the intention was to be the opposite of all that. I remember the last one I went to, I helped arrange the after party for the society and the painted girls at my club. I then took the night off and participated in the debauchery. That was...quite an evening.
