    Scandinavian summer transfers/rumours, 2011 :

Nothing much has happened quite yet, but you can be sure that the Danish marked is now on the brink of exploding into an orgy of transfers, especially because FC København are going to need quite alot of replacements, while OB Odense are going to reinforce their team for the Champions League qualifiers... and then of course you can also be sure Brøndby are going to reinforce, now that it seems that we are going to see a weaker FCK team this season, while we are also going to see some rather heavy shopping by AGF Aarhus, now that they have returned to the Superliga.

FC København were the first to act, by signing a 4-year deal with 25-yo Icelandic centre back Ragnar Sigurdsson, paying IFK Göteborg a fee of around $1.1 million.

FCk are also rumoured to be strongly interested in the 26-yo Brazilian left back Ricardinho who currently plays for Swedish Malmø FF.

Brøndby have so far been able to land the 26-yo attacking midfielder, Mikkel Thygesen from FC Midtjylland. Though his contract with FCM had expired, he is not going to come cheap. He signed a 3-year deal worth $2.1 million. So Brøndby are paying him $700k a year.

Brøndby are also strongly linked to the talented 20-yo Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah who currently plays for Norwegian Lillestrøm SK, while both Brøndby and OB Odense seem to be in the run for Swedish defensive midfielder Rasmus Lindgren who is leaving Ajax Amsterdam this summer.

OB Odense have not done much so far, but besides Rasmus Lindgren, they are also being rumoured to be highly interested in signing the 25-yo Norwegian defender Tore Reginiussen, who is on loan to Norwegian Tromsø IL from German bundesliga side Schalke 04.

As expected, OB Odense got their hands on Tore Reginiussen and rather cheaply I may add, since they only paid Schalke 04 a $280k transfer fee...

Also FC København chose to buy a Norwegian, when they chose to sell their Danish box-to-box midfielder William Kvist to VfB Stuttgart and were in need of a replacement. So they signed a 3-year deal with Norwegian international Christian Grindheim from Heerenveen, paying a $1million transfer fee, while VfB Stuttgart paid around $5.6 million for William Kvist, who had only one year left of his contract with FCK.

Dennis Marshall killed in car crash

The Red Cross says that AaB Aalborg left back Dennis Marshall was killed Thursday when his car collided head-on with a truck on the Braulio Carrillo highway in a mountainous area near San Jose in Costa Rica. A woman traveling with him was also killed. Marshall recently returned to Costa Rica following the Gold Cup in the USA. Marshall scored to make it 1-1 in regulation time in the quarterfinals for Costa Rica, though losing 4-2 on penalties to Honduras.

Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland have signed a 3½-year contract with 25-yo Dutch striker Tim Janssen who join the club from newly relegated Esbjerg fB. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but is said to be $500k.

    Morten Skoubo to OB Odense

Atle Roar Håland to AGF Aarhus

AGF Aarhus have signed a 2-year contract with the 33-yo Norwegian centre back Atle Roar Håland who join the club from OB Odense that recently signed fellow Norwegian Tore Reginiussen as his replacement. Håland join AGF on a free transfer as his contract with OB was close to expire.

    Marvin Pourie to Silkeborg IF

Danish Superliga side Silkeborg IF have signed a 3-year contract with the young 20-yo German striker Marvin Pourie, who join the club on a free transfer from German Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

Pourie was part of the Borussia Dortmund academy before being picked up by Liverpool in 2006 at the age of 15. He returned home to Germany to join Schalke in January 2009. But due to some disciplinary problems, he was sent on loan to 1860 Munich and later TuS Koblenz, before returning to Schalke 04.

According to Danish media FC København have made a bid on the 22-yo Czech right back Ondrej Celustka, who no doubt is suppose to replace fellow Czech Zdenek Pospech who left FCK this summer. Ondrej Celustka has been playing for the Czech Republic at the U21 Euro finals in Denmark the past few weeks.

FC København have apparently also made a last-minute bid on the 20-yo Nigeria striker, Anthony Ujah, which now has complicated a move from Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK to German side FSV Mainz 05. However, since Ujah earlier came very close to an agreement with Brøndby (that in the end could not afford the transfer fee), he is said not too be all too keen on a move to their main rivals FC københavn.

FC København have btw announced today, that they will be using more time on looking for reinforcements in the Dutch and Portuguese leagues in the future.

Dame N'Doye to Saudi Arabia ?

Accoding to Danish (Tips-bladet) and Saudi Arabian media, Saudi club Al-Hilal have made a record US$14-21 million offer on FC København striker Dame N'Doye and FC København are considering the offer, which perhaps also explain their sudden $4.25 million offer on Anthony Ujah'

Anthony Ujah to FSV Mainz 05

As expected, Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK have now sold Anthony Ujah to FSV Mainz 05. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but is said to be €3 million.

Baba Diawara to FC København ?

According to his agent Artur dos Santos, FC København are showing interest in the 23-yo Senegalese striker Baba Diawara who is also interested in playing for FCK, if they can afford the transfer fee that is estimated to be somewhere between € 3 million and € 5 million. At the moment Diawara is playing in the Portuguese league for C.S. Marítimo and his agent told Sporten.dk that also Marseille, Benfica, Sochaux and 1. FC Köln are showing interest in the player.

In no doubt related news, the board member and director of football at Saudi club Al-Hilal, Sami Al-Jaber has now confirmed to Danish ESM* TIPS-Bladet, that Al-Hilal in fact have made a bid on FC København striker Dame N'Doye and that they are now going to send a representative to Copenhagen to negotiate and hopefully finalize a deal. So FCK could be on the brink of replacing N'Doye with fellow Senegalese Baba Diawara.

    Mikkel Bischoff to Lyngby BK

Danish Superliga side Lyngby BK have signed a 1-year deal with 29-yo Brøndby centre back Mikkel Bischoff. Because of recurring injuries, Brøndby did not want to extend Bischoffs contract, so he was free to join Lyngby.

Lyngby have also managed to secure 33-yo striker Peter Madsen on an extended loan deal from Brøndby for the upcoming season. Madsen has won 13 caps, and scored 3 goals for Denmark.

Alexander Gerndt to FC København ?

According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, FC København have made a SEK 20 million (around US$ 3.1 million) bid on last seasons Allsvenskan topscorer Alexander Gerndt, even throwing in Peter Larsson for free as a part of the deal to get the Swedish international and Helsingborgs IF topscorer.

Though it is highly doubtful that Gerndt is suppose to replace Dame N'Doye, since they are far from the same type of striker, but he could probably be a replacement for César Sántin and/or Morten Nordstrand, who have both been rumoured to leave FCK this summer.

According to Danish newspapers, Saudi club Al-Hilal and Dame N'Doye have now agreed on his personal terms, which is said to be around $3.4 million a year. However, FC København have so far rejected a $10 million offer by Al-Hilal and they are now saying that they could end up saying no to a deal, if they do not feel comfortable about it all, I'm sure also thinking about the at least $17 million they stand to lose, if they do not qualify for the Champions League group stage this season, but have to settle with the much less profitable Europa League. So FCK no doubt want more money for N'Doye, especially to ease their CL worries.

Sporten.dk have now talked to board member and director of football at Saudi club Al-Hilal, Sami Al-Jaber, who reject that Al-Hilal are willing to pay the $10 million (€ 7 million) for Dame N'Doye. Though he still believe they will be able to make a deal with FC København.

    - "I am sorry to say this, but there are some agents talking bull****. Sorry. But all sorts of rumors flourishes all sorts of places. Al Hilal is one of the biggest clubs in Asia. We know the price levels. It annoys us that such figures are being mentioned", said Samir Al-Jaber to sporten.dk and add :

    - "€ 7 million ?. What are you thinking about ?. We are not even close to € 7 million. There are too many rumors, and there are some who try to push up the price. I am afraid that it could ruin a deal. We could get top players from the Bundesliga and English Premier League for that kind of money."
    ----

... and then he starts rambling about how little they payed for a 32-yo over-the-hill Young-Pyo Lee ( € 1 million) and Christian Wilhelmsson (€ 3.5 million)... well, I can only conclude, that Al-Hilal are either not serious about getting Dame N'Doye, or they have no clue about the actual price level.

FCK themselves payed €2 million ($2.8 million) for N'Doye and since then he has developed into a Champions League quality striker. No player has managed to score more goals in one Superliga season since Ebbe Sand in 1997–98 and FCK have also just extended N'Doyes contract, because they think of him at their most valuable player in their quest of qualifying for the CL group stage this season, which as written is worth a minimum of $17 million to them (FCK have just recieved more than $30 million for last seasons CL performance), not to forget, that a Danish Championship this season is going to be worth $24 million at the very least, in TV and CL bonus alone, money they could risk losing by selling their absolute star player... so why in the world would Al Hilal think, that FCK are willing to sell N'Doye for a fee, that is probably not much higher than what they paid for him in the first place ?.

Maybe this is a little off topic but this news made me wonder, what transfers between two scandinavian clubs have been the most expensive of all time?

Danish transfer fees are almost never discolsed, so that is a difficult question, but I believe the biggest fee between two Danish clubs so far, was when FC Midtjylland paid just around $3.7 million (DKK 19 million) for Jonas Borring from OB Odense in 2008. The most expensive player FC københavn have ever signed from another Scandinavian club, was when they paid Örgryte around $4.3 million (€3 million) for Aílton Almeida.....

The best players are of course not sold to other Scandinavian clubs, but to the bigger leagues for much bigger fees, which also makes is silly that Al-Hilal think they can get one of the very best strikers in the history of the Danish Superliga for perhaps the same fee as William Kvist, who was sold by FCK in this transfer window to VfB Stuttgart for €4 million (around $5.8 million).... First of all, then good strikers are much more expensive than midfielders and secondly, FCK have just extended N'Doyes contract, because they think of him at their most valuable player, while William Kvist only had one year left of his contract and had been promised by FCK, that they would let him go this summer, if they got the right offer....

In any case, FCK have lost several regular starters in this transfer window that they need to replace, so they cant really afford to also lose their absolute star player N'Doye if they want to qualify for the Champions league group stage. So from an FCK point of view, it is no doubt worth much more money to keep N'Doye than Al-Hilal seem able or willing to pay for him.

I think this article from business.dk has it covered pretty well, with financial advisor Joachim Sperling saying that it would be madness to sell N'Doye even for DKK 70 million ($13.5 million), because FCK then risk losing much more in lost Champions league bonus and sponsorships :

    Mikkel Beckmann to FC Nordsjælland

Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjælland have signed a 3-year contract with 27-yo winger Mikkel Beckmann who join the club from newly relegated Randers FC. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but according to ESM* TIPS-Bladet, FCN only paid around €150k ($216k) for the Danish WC-10 winger.

    SønderjyskE keeping three trialists

Besides the American midfielder Conor O'Brien, Danish Superliga side SønderjyskE have had Zimbabwean attacking midfielder Clement Matawu, Czech Republic right back/winger Josef Laštovka, Danish defensive midfielder Jonas Damborg, Senegalese striker Mohamed Soly and Danish and French defenders Martin Pedersen and Kebba Jobarth on trial the past few weeks, but now all but 3 of the 7 trialists have been sent home...

The 3 trialist who apparently made a good impression when SønderjyskE beat German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg by 2-0 in a pre-season match, now get to stay a bit longer to play the next pre-season match against VB kolding (formerly known as Vejle BK) before it will be decided if they actually get a contract, are Martin Pedersen, Josef Laštovka and Conor O'Brien.

SønderjyskE have so far signed a 1-year contract with the 28-yo right/centre back Thomas Hansen and a 2-year contract with the 22-yo left-footed winger Daniel Christensen

New Al-Hilal bid on Dame N'Doye

According to ESM* TIPS-Bladet, the current president of Saudi soccer club Al-Hilal, Abdulrahman bin Musa'ad has said, that they have now raised their bid to €5 million (or around $7.2 million) on N'Doye, but that FC København quite simply are asking for €10 million (around $14.4 million). But the Al-Hilal president is still willing to give the negotiations a few more days, in a last attempt to see if they can come up with a solution. So they can get N'Doye

    http://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/superliga/al-hilal-fck-kraever-75-mio-ndoye
    ---

If you ask me, then there's no solution to these negotiation, unless Al-Hilal chose to pay the price FCK feel he is worth to them (in CL and Superliga bonus). Al-Hilal have simply picked the absolute worst possible time to try to negotiate a deal, in a transfer window where FCK already have lost several regular starters and now are in need to keep the rest of their key players this shortly before the CL qualifiers. N'Doye also still has 3-years left of his contract with FCK. So they are in no need or hurry to sell.

FCK refuse last Al-Hilal bid on Dame N'Doye

    - "The deal is off. We sent our representative to Copenhagen, but we were not able to come to an agreement with the Danish club. Therefore we have canceled the whole thing," director of football at Saudi club Al-Hilal, Sami Al-Jaber, said to tipsbladet.dk Monday afternoon.

The director of football is surprised that his club could not come to an agreement with FC København on a transfer. He believes that the Danish champions have made unrealistic demands in the negotiations that are now dead and buried.

    - "First we offered four million euros, then four-a-half million. But FC København said no. Maybe the Danes believe that we live in a different kind of world, because it makes no sense that FCK are saying no to such an amount. I do not know if the club is very rich, but we can get players from the Bundesliga and Premier League for this high an amount," said Sami Al-Jaber.

    - "If FC København want to negotiate on our terms, they may still return [to the table]. But it must be soon," says Al-Jaber.

Peter Nymann is of good Superliga quality, so he should do well for Djurgården .... it was already in the cards that he was leaving Esbjerg, long before they actually suffered relegation from the Superliga, because he did not want to renew his contract with the club.... but I think he got a bit surprised how difficult is has become to find a new team, now that all clubs seem to be downsizing their squads in this transfer window...

Due to the relegation, Esbjerg have also let the two Swedish players Fredrik Risp and Johan Persson go... and have sold their Dutch striker Tim Janssen to FC Midtjylland and right midfielder Jeppe Mehl to AC Horsens... and there could be more on their way out.

Søren Larsen to AGF Aarhus or Brøndby ?

AGF Aarhus seem to be leading the chase over Brøndby in their quest of signing the 29-yo Toulouse striker Søren Larsen, who has been a good striker for the Danish national team in the past, but has been out of luck the past few years, due to some injuries (like a broken toe that kept him out for a while) plus some misfortune, standing in the shadow of French league topscorer 2008/09 André-Pierre Gignac when he was nominated for the 'Ligue 1 Player of the Year' award and later also Luc Castaignos who went on a wild goal-scoring streak, when Søren Larsen was on loan at Feyenoord ... so it has just been a string of bad luck for Søren Larsen the past few years.... He is however, exactly the kind of striker Brøndby and AGF Aarhus are looking for right now.
