I agree with your comment. A minor tournament yes, the poorer teams of course look forward to playing the likes of Saudi, although in theory I guess you could use an U21 or U23 team for this type of tournament.

But, generally I posted the link as I'm never too sure with some African media if it's true or not. I've searched Middle Eastern media but found nothing. I can't read UAFA website, so if anything more than a one liner news report, could someone please post?

I do like the idea of the tournament, but I can't see why they couldn't try and work with WAFF, with GCC to organise a decent tournament for everyone, this doesn't happen and we have half hearted competitions run by at sometimes what seems half hearted organisations.

So now we have Pan Arab games,Arab Cup,Islamic Solidatiry,Gulf Cup games line up of Saudi team.
As Druryfire said, they should try to combine some cups like Gulf Cup,Arab Cup and Waff Championship and have a decent tournament.

Look at it this way: It's not something bad. :D

I don't think combining the Arab Cup with WAFF would work. Iran are a member of WAFF and they aren't Arab :(

Mohammed Al Dayaea claims on twitter that his actual number of caps is 188, not 178 and will take with the Saudi FA to correct the number.

This is when Ahmed Hassan has equaled his record in the match against Brazil.

Qatar did NOT meet the attendance criteria. No way. Now way. Infact, even in the report, Saudi Arabia got 55.8/100 while Qatar got 50/100. So how did they do it?

Oh wait, everything in the AFC is run by Qatar.

Yeah, the idea that Qatar fulfilled all criteria is a joke. Even UAE has better attendance.

Maybe they divide it by total population or something?

That means if two people show up to the stadium, they've fulfilled their attendance requirements. :D
