Finally caught the waltz episode tonight. Overall, that might have been the best episode I've seen in years. A couple lame sketches, but I laughed quite often. I was worried after the monologue, but it turns out my initial excitement when I heard he was hosting was justified. Also, Alabama shakes..... I like them. I'd never heard them.
I've tried hard 'not' to like this guy. It's easy to do that with his singing and playing the hard case (he's a whimp!) in movies BUT in SNL...he is excellent...! And he was in this show as well. Joining the "5" club.
I would find it easy to dislike him if not for the "Dick in a Box" thing. I don't know if that's in the all time top ten funniest things on SNL, but it has to be in the running.
All those videos, and the recent dating game, are so excellent. Fun fact: The actual name of that singing duo is "2:30 AM" -- again, pitch-perfectly hilarious.
I consider one of the bits he was in, the Ellis Island immigrant sketch, to be in my top five greatest SNL bits of all time. I consider it nearly perfect. This is an awful quality clip, but I didn't see another.
The next new episode's host on May 4th will be Zach Galifianakis with musical guest Of Monsters and Men. -G
Im looking forward to this - although, Wiig has only been gone for 1 season, and i dont know what shes going to be promoting - i dont think she has anything coming out.
Perhaps for her part in the upcoming Despicable Me 2 (even though that only hits theaters on July 3rd)? -G

I'm a fan of Bill Hader. This Firefighter sketch is incredibly stupid, one-note, and I find it beyond hilarious. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/firehouse-incident/n32026/ (PS: Taran Killam's silent reaction at 2:00 is typically genius.)
Meh, Bill Hader's been on the decline for me, his most famous character (Stefon) was funny at first but it became so repetitive and annoying, especially with his fake breaking.
Fred Armisen Is Leaving 'SNL' Too, Jason Sudeikis "Probably" I think losing either one of these guys would be a huge loss for the show let alone both.
They need to step up anyways, this season had far more busts than anything else. I can't remember one solid episode where every skit was funny.
Honestly, I've given up hoping the writers will turn the show around. It's hard to blame them. There are talented performers and good writers on the show, but they are often guided the wrong direction so the writing isn't necessarily for the performers. The blame should begin and end with the man at the top.
