I don't like how we played after the gol. Galindo has too much confidence in our defense. We need to keep attacking or else Monterrey WILL come back. They're too good to shut out.
Felicidades a todos los Laguneros! I'm so happy that we won. Playing well and reaching finals is always nice, but having some silverware to show for it makes it so much better. Can't really write to much about the game and past week right now since I am tired and ready to crash. But I will say that Oswaldo and Luduena were immense this liguilla.
Dumb question, has that always been the trophy they hand out? For some reason I remember it being bigger/different looking.
This series has proven 1 thing: That there is only one ETERNAL SUBCHAMPION. And they wear blue in Mexico City.
Feels Goodman. My hat goes off to Monterrey. They were the team we needed to emulate in order to capture a title, and the one we've been chasing all these years. It had to end this way; we couldn't have beaten a better club. This erases the bitterness I had about losing to them in Apertura 2010, and more recently in Concachampions. Entering the series, I believe everyone billed us as the clear underdogs. There was a lot of talk about a Monterrey dynasty, Vucetich's undefeated streak...etc, and for good reason. That's why this victory feels so damn good (I like you Perndog, but your tears are so f#cking sweet). The game was intense from beginning to end. We were superior defensively, and when we attacked, we looked the more dangerous team by far, which was a pleasant surprise. I still have nightmares about Suazo and De Nigris' dominant, spectacular showing in Apertura 2010. This time, with a standout and damn near heroic performance from Felipe Baloy (remember, he wasn't able to play in the second leg of 2010), the defense made 'Chupete' look like an average rec league player. I'll never forget Oswaldo diving after every routine save (though I give him major props for that last one); Felipe Baloy BEGGING to be let in while waiting for a clean shirt, and his teammates desperately trying to clean the blood off his jersey with Gatorade; the stadium shots and both goal celebrations were a site to behold. Never been prouder to be a fan of this team. Many thanks to Oribe Peralta. What else is there to say about this guy? I have to admit that I was one of his toughest critics when he started getting national attention, and especially when he was called up to the NT (that was also me being a huge Vela jockrider). Congrats and thanks a million for this amazing season if the rumors are true about him leaving to Scotland. Godspeed! (who would have thought that our attack would improve AFTER losing Benitez?) Thanks to Felipe Baloy, who left his heart out on the field. You can tell he wanted it badly and his interview after the game almost brought a tear to my eye. Thanks to guys like 'Hachita' Ludueña and Oswaldo, who are on their way out, so I'm very happy that they were able to win it all again while still with us. Duro, Santos, Duro!
