So.......................... Who will be running the draft and who will be running the show throughout the forthcoming season for our motley crue? Anyone want to step up to the plate...?
Does that mean you don't want to do it I'll do it if no one else really steps up and wants it. This is my 3rd year and I think I have a pretty good handle on the workings of the league. I also only have class Tuesdays this semester (as opposed to full-time) so I will have loads more time to mess around w/ fantasy stuff.
Crap! How did I get promoted to the Sand League??? Oh well, each division needs a doormat. If I keep doing as poorly as I did last year I'll be in the small rocks division in no time at this pace! Unfortunately I will be out of touch from July 22nd to the night of August 1st. I'll be traveling places that believe it or not will not have internet service. I'm really not very familiar yet with the Premier League so giving someone a ton of proxies might be tough. If I get a vote I'd like to start in August.
Yeah, the later the better is a good general rule for the draft, given injuries and late signings. I'll be at a beach house with 25 family members all week leading up to the first game, so I'm going to be checking in sporadically. However, I'm very good at PM-ing guys proxy picks, so I should keep us moving.
Seems to me like sometime between August 2nd and August 5th would be a good time to start the draft. Last season, Sand started drafting on August 3rd while league play kicked-off on August 14th (it's the 13th this year if you didn't know). Is this proposal kosher with everyone? If yes, we should decide on a day when as many participants as possible will have internet capability for the most possible time -- it's easy to knock off the first few rounds very quickly if everyone cooperates. Last year's Sand draft didn't go very smoothly, let's try to do much better this time around ________________________________________________________________ Just an additional fyi: I could be wrong, but I'm expecting the FPL site to re-open for business within the next week or so. After all, glorious Premier League football kicks off in exactly 4 weeks
checking in, I've been on vacation the past few days, will be back in more consistent internet access tomorrow.
I think I'll be away for 5 days from August 2nd to the 6th. However, I may have internet access during that time. I'll try and find out beforehand but if I don't I'll try and use someone like blech for all my early round proxies to keep everything moving smoothly along.
FC Weymouth checking in! I'll be away from the night of the 2nd until the afternoon of the 4th. I will bring my computer with me and send a proxy to someone.
Any time should work for me, no conflicts. Could we get a run down of our 8 league members and BS usernames, and possibly time zones we are in Me and Buzzkill are in Central time zone
Any time works for me as well, I'm basically in town from now on. And kopite has my cell number to text me if I happen to be away for a long period of time.
Is this right? Wendys, could you please post your time zone for us all? And if anyone is vacationing to a time zone different from their own, post that as well. If you use texting and feel safe enough sharing your number, I would strongly recommend sharing phone numbers... at least with the people before/after your pick once we get the draft order down. Since it seems we will have at least one member away from July 22nd right up until the start of the season, we will all have to work together and be flexible. I feel using text messages to communicate is a great use of modern technology to keep things moving There really are no options that perfectly match up for all involved, so the Sand League draft is officially slated to start on Monday, August 1st in hopes that some progress will be made before fraser and Morrison skip town. Hopefully all of you lucky vacationers will have enough internet access to keep things moving along at a reasonable clip. As always, leave any questions, comments or concerns or forever hold your peace.
I have no problem with giving out my cell to keep everything moving and I know for a fact I won't slow things down when I'm gone. I'll be going to a casino so you better hope I'm cold at the craps table or I may slow it down Anyone against starting a little earlier and just going really slow until August 1st? Way too excited to get this started
We need the official site to open up and get us those player values. Be interesting to see if some of the non-performing "stars" from last year drop in value.
It's been a relatively slow transfer window in the Prem, thus far at least. It's probably better to wait for clubs to get into their pre-season tours so they know who to sell and who to sign. Any signings after the draft starts aren't available for selection, so the longer we wait the better. IMO everyone will have plenty to do once the site actually opens -- I must have spent two weeks dicking around with my draft board last summer I'm a bit surprised the site hasn't re-opened yet... must be any day now. I hope so. The player prices have continually inflated each season. There's a few players I have my eye on for this year, but it all depends on their prices. I have a bad feeling a fair few of those non-performers will retain their high prices despite a lack of points in 10/11
I'll know for definite tomorrow but I think it may actually be the 10th-14th August when I'll be away which will work out better for draft purposes.
That's confirmed now. 10th-14th August I will have limited or no internet access. Which will work out better for draft purposes.
I think using a randomizer is easier, but is there one where it just sends emails out on the first try? Because it would be pretty dodgy if the person who does it can keep reloading until they like it
I am not bothered which method we use, we can always have someone from another league run the numbers ... a neutral The reason the Penn lotto has been popular is that the numbers are public. Like I said I don't care what we do, just want to get the draft order itself sorted sooner rather than later --- plays into strategy planning for most I would think
