You think all Italians do is eat pizza all day? Are you stereotyping? You think we are all called Guidos or what? ;)

No, but, you make it all day when you own a couple of pizza restaurants. But, stereoptyping? In your case, yes.:D

Wazzu Couging It is as inevitable as Dallas losing to Colorado in the playoffs. It was only a matter of time.

The saying goes "I've forgotten more than what you know. " The way you wrote this implies that you know less than the guy you were responding to.

What he means is that the recipient of the comment was once an expert, but forgot all he knew. And whatever that whole lotta expert forgotten knowledge is, he knows even "a lot more" than that. Makes perfect sense to me :).

Apologies. English is not my first language. I guess I must have got the point across though because its been 3 weeks since I posted initially and no one has responded until now.

Sure why can't we all be more racist towards Italians?

    Italian isn't a race.

Actually, ethnicity and race are closely aligned concepts. And it is therefore possible for racism to involve prejudice against Italians.

(That said, Earthshaker just enjoys tweaking falvo.) :)

I'm 75% Italian. Prejudice and discrimination based on ethnicity....sure. But that isn't racism. Racism is a term thrown around far too casually these days.

Then you might enjoy this book. http://www.amazon.com/Are-Italians-White-Race-America/dp/0415934516

"Race" is a term too casually understood these days, which is maybe why people don't understand that it has long subsumed ethnicity. Historically, "race" animus wasn't strictly based on "color." It's not all black-and-white, literally as well as figuratively.

Here's one of my favorite racist quotes of all time, from the subsequently overruled trial judge in the Supreme Court decision rendering unconsititutional anti-miscegenation laws:

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix." (Loving v. Virginia, 1967).

I always managed to lose that malay crayon as a kid. :)

I made fun of this thread when it was started...and a month later, I'm still wondering why it exists.

    Two words: fal vo.

Or maybe it's because the Quakes have only dropped 2 points in 4 games since the thread started, and have a shot at the record (albeit with 2 extra games in the schedule).

Yeah but how about that Bobby Convey & Cam Weaver? ;)

Don have you seen the new FIAT dealer on Capitol Expressway in San Jose?
    [IMG][IMG]

If you buy one and have to (Fix It Again) , be extra careful because I heard they were setting back the odometers.....make sure you take it to Franco Benevento who coached the San Jose Frogs in Campbell and use to play for the NY Cosmos.....

Dropping 4 points at home in the last two home games isn't exactly a good sign, against non playoff teams even, though if they win out they'd still break the point record.

K.C. has now earned more points in less games than the double-winning team in 2000 (57 points over 32 games).

Keep up the good work for the rest of the season, and a new team record can be set for single-season ppg as well.

ScaryIce has an excellent post on this as well (through 2009 though),.
