There is no reason why he can't put what he said in that blog interview in his weekly Kaval's Korner (or whatever he calls it). It's not like he hinted at any big announcement. It would just be the latest on the stadium front.

I agree. I don't care where he says it but I can not understand why he hasn't just come out with this big announcement on the stadium front as of yet. I mean by now, its getting kind of dumb. What's the hold up and why the long wait already?

There may not be any big announcement yet. They probably can't announce a groundbreaking date until the city issues the building permit.

I've been hearing and reading about this building permit for years. How long does it take to get around this and who needs to be paid off for whomever to sign it? I mean give someone an envelope full of money and sign it already! :sneaky:

Stop talking about someone getting "paid off", this isn't Italian football after all.:p

We have never applied for a building permit, so, I don't what you think you have heard for years.

Was Ron Gonzalez Italian? Never knew that by his last name.....

Seriously though, we are talking about a lousy piece of paper so how long does it take to sign it?

The city needs to review the design to make sure it doesn't violate codes etc. etc. Can't do it unless they have it in their hands.

We're not talking about a building permit. We're talking about designs and structural engineering plans that need to be done before anything physically happens.

They've voted for approvals and overcame all obstacles on February 22nd so how much longer does it take to start digging? I can't believe that its taking this long to make up more drawings and get permits signed. It should be a mere technicality. Incredible.

Yes, and when those are all complete, the city reviews them, and then issues the building permit.

That Feb. meeting was for the development permit, which gave the Quakes permission to build a stadium on the site. You don't pay $2 million dollars for your stadium design until you know you can actually build a stadium.

But they already know they can build it , have gotten approvals , done studies, what more do they need? Its ridiculous that its taking this long to make an announcement.

To finish the actual stadium design.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

How many more designs do they really need? We are talking about digging a hole in the ground and start in on it already. I'm sure they can always do something different after they've started construction on the complex. I mean every contractor in the world does something different after they start building. My family has been involved with construction for as long as I remember and I've never seen anything like this. Incredible!

Because they have never built a soccer stadium.

Considering there are only 11 in America and 2 in Canada , not many people have. Putting up 18k seats and four beams? Big deal! I remember them building the Pruneyard Towers and it took less time to get off the ground , than this.
