"A special moment – training game or no – for a club and fanbase that has waited more than six years for their own home." Six years?! Those poor fans.
Proof that California sucks. It takes us longer to do anything here which is what's killing our state.
Good grief! Unless it's intended as a social commentary, you've got to update your avatar: San Jose Earthquakes Logos My eyes thank you in advance
Montreal VP: Stade Saputo will be ready for June 16 debut MONTREAL – Montreal Impact vice president Richard Legendre made it very clear to the local press on Thursday: Newly renovated Stade Saputo will be open for business when the Impact host the Seattle Sounders on June 16. “It’s progressing quickly, and we need it to progress quickly,” Legendre told reporters. “More than 50 percent of the work is now done. Stands are popping up fast, and we’ll be going at full blast until June 16. We’re working exclusively on that scenario – that we’re playing on June 16." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...l-vp-stade-saputo-will-be-ready-june-16-debut
Is the upcoming meeting next month with the San José City Council regarding the adjacent community soccer fields the actual (and perhaps final) holdup toward finally breaking ground for The Epicenter? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Better not be. Don't get me wrong, the children are our future, but they better not be what's holding up our stadium.
Whoops, I don't know how my comment got added into your quote box Goodsport, that wasn't intentional. What I get for posting from my phone..

BBVA Compass Stadium Broke groundFebruary 5, 2011 OpenedMay 12, 2012 15 months. That means if we break ground next Monday, we'll have it by August 2013?
Which means that The Epicenter will likely open no earlier than Opening Day 2014. As for BBVA Compass Stadium's opener (this was the first Houston Dynamo game I ever watched that didn't also involve the San Jose Earthquakes), Good God did Dominic Kinnear's decision to keep the between-the-lines playing field width at only 70 yards (which was confirmed by the TV announcers), despite the new stadium there being able to easily accommodate a 75 yard width, make the game disgustingly tough to watch! It was only slightly easier to watch than a game at Jeld-Wen Field because at least BBVA's field is natural grass. I remember when the post-Golden Age began, there were heated debates here on whether it would've been better to have Frank Yallop or Dominic Kinnear as our current head coach and there were good points made for both of them. However, at this point I'm so glad that we have Yallop rather than Kinnear considering that Yallop thankfully eventually widened and lengthened our home playing field to the near-ideal 74x115 yards while Kinnear still kept his playing field at 70 yards wide and 110(?) yards long despite no longer being physically constrained to do so. I was there today and it looked better from the stands. I hope y'all aren't too mad at me, but, because the wife is a Dynamo fan I bought Season tickets (As Houston is her home town she defected when the Quakes moved whilst I stayed true blue. I made sure that I gave the Anschutz cronies (Phil himself and his leading devil Lewienke) hell when they were introduced. It really made me excited for when we get our Stadium. If it's as good as this one we'll be happy. I did make sure I represented though!!
Nice!! Awesome to see someone at the opening representing their team's past, reminding them that they stole our team and won their championships largely with our same guys. Great job!
Awesome work, rcoull! Hopefully you sporting the rightful blue hasn't caused you trouble either in the household or in the stands there, though. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
On saturday before the game, Dave Kaval tweeted: So I assume that since nothing has been reported here that either (1) No one went and can report back OR (2) The stadium "update" was not news-worthy enough to report back. Just wondering...
I appreciate it. However, if it was news-worthy, Kaval probably would have mentioned it in his latest blog posted this afternoon: Kaval's Kickoff: Great weekend for soccer He does say this:
