Turlock's claim to fame. Guess the movie. You're new around here. Where you from? 00:13:04 - Turlock. - You know a guy named Frank Bartlett? 00:13:08 No. Does he go to Turlock High? 00:13:10 Well, he used to. He goes to J.C. now. 00:13:13 - Do you go toJ.C.? - Yeah, sure
You are half right. George Lucas is from Modesto, and though the movie is set there, it was shot mostly in Petaluma. Lucas thought Modesto wasn't the same as when he was cruising the streets in the early 60's and so he initially chose San Rafael as the locale. The leaders in San Rafael thought it was disrupting the city too much so he then moved it up the road to Petaluma.

Woof! Both of my doggies are rescue critters. So I was just looking CSU Stanislaus site. Their stadium seats 1200 people, and it's got a track around it. I'm not into tracks around soccer pitches. It's an interesting choice. Tracy and Manteca are closer (drive time anyway). So is Stockton, where the UoP stadium is almost unused. Whatever, I think a U-23 program is a good idea. GO QUAKES!! - Mark
I hope they show the games on a webcam or something because im not going all the way down there! Unless its Open Cup
As a native to Turlock, I have to say this has me very happy. Stanislaus' facilities are certainly not flashy but they are quite nice. The playing surface is good and the stands are decent. I'm looking forward to checking out some of these games. Choosing Stanislaus might have to do with overall facility use cost. Since it has few amenities, it will cost less than potentially better overall sites. It also is very underused so scheduling ease might have also been a factor.
The PDL coach is also the stan state coach and I think he's also with the quakes pre academy team in the area. So that makes sense.
Turlock is technically north of San Jose ... and only about 90 miles from Buck Shaw. That's closer than Santa Rosa, one of the alternative locations for the PDL team.
Yeah, it's on Route 99, and Nat King Cole sang about it, if you recall: Now you go through Manteca, Lodi, California, And Sacramento city is mighty pretty. You see ol' Madera, Fresno, you got to go, Bakersfield, we love ya'. Don't forget Visalia, Lodi, Turlock, Kingsburg and Delano, Won't you ... get hip to this timely tip...

I just got around to reading this. Although I like your use of the old song "Route 66", Nat King Cole did have the towns in proper order. Lodi and Turlock are not down near Visalia, Kingsburg or Delano. Tulare is there, along with Earlimart, Pixley, Tipton, McFarland, and a few others. Turlock is north, between Merced and Modesto. Lodi is further north on 99, between Modesto and Sacramento.
Hah, I didn't give one thought to the location / order. I just tried to find town names that rhymed and had the right number of syllables - w/o spending too much time on it.
