I was the first one who was doubting everyone including Jahn and Frank but I must say, none of us should be doubters again. Frank seems to have some type of magic worked. He sees something and he makes the right substitutions. This team never ceases to amaze me! Incredible!

Bench Baca. Move Corrales into the middle if he HAS to play and give the young guys a shot now. We are going to need these guys at some point anyways with Champions League. Great subs I just hope that we don't see these guys as just impact players and trust them enough to start them in these games with some guys out.

Wondo's PKs blew, but Jahn rescued this one.

Corrales is too slow to play out wide left. We need to start one of the younger guys out there. Only attacks from the left happened when Salinas switched sides.

I think a few of us wanted to sign him, I think everyone was surprised to see such an impact so soon. Big on the big fella.

The team worked better when we went back to the 2 fast wide mids with the big center forward. I like what Fucito brings, but he is more of a special situations guy (read vs LA when we want to get Omar's feet moving) with the team, or if Wondo is out. Corrales starting at outside mid has to stop as long as we have Harden at right back. People will unfairly single out Baca, and I would be ok with sacrificing him if it means we have 2 faster players.

Also missing a right back who can actually get forward is huge.

We just need to survive the month though. This was a nice needed win.

Edit: ok, maybe i wasnt in the sign Jahn boat. I saw something there, but thought that he was too raw. Im sure somebody wanted to sign him.

God bless Roy Miller. We should take up a collection for him to supplement the unemployment benefits he'll be getting later this month.

I just love the way our BigSoccer critics are proved wrong and the objects of derision win the game.

Wondo is the man but someone else needs to take the PK

Hats off to those who attended the game.....Ultra's, as always, you looked good and sounded good on TV.....

Not sure what to say about the game....was a sleeper until the subs came in. Was a bit surprised that Salinas went out...thought Corrales would of been the one being subbed......

Anyone have an estimate on when Marvin will be back.....?

So do you start Jahn over Fucito next week? I say trial by fire....get the kids in there now so they have some game experience for Champions league

At least we got a few points. But passing on Bostock to keep Corrales is still pissing me off. Sentimentality doesn't pay and a midfield with Baca and Corrales can never work. Baca hasn't been good; but I think that's down to the overwhelming caution Corrales brings out in everyone around him. It seems to be knocking down Morrow's game at the same time.
Fucito needs to work on his finishing 24-7. The rest of his game is pretty good. But if he can't finish, he won't play.
I'm glad I saw a spark from Cato...but I think he's still a year or so away from regular playing time because of lots of errors.
Good job by Adam Jahn. He can be a Bash brother eventually. I hope he spends a lot of time in the weight room and also working on his burst.
Much of the time it seemed we were playing with 3 CBs and no right back. But credit to Harden doing pretty well out of position.
Thankfully it was a handball in the box at the end instead of a foul...fat Salazar would never call the latter.

I haven't read the pbp but we dominated most of that game. Those of you who watched at home probably saw none of the off-the-ball hacking, mostly from olave. Not called, even his smacking our forwards repeatedly.
Card on wondo was ridiculous...for complaining???

Baca was not great, feels like a position needing an upgrade but not horrible. We are mainly missing our players who bring the most passion. Lenny, chavez, beita (win pin!) too.

Shea was not as much of a standout as last week but should not have been subbed out. Oh, and we agreed that cato actually had some decent moves

Robert Jonas said the yellow card was given because it "sounded like Wondolowski said 'F*$& you' to Salazar."

    Lemonade out of lemons.

Great job Rookies saving the day! Corralles out, Garza in as a starter and let's get on with it in Columbus.

Salazar enforced the Laws of the Game which allowed you to come away with the win. He also enforced the Laws of the Game against your team which is the very definition of fair. To say he's the worst referee in the MLS because he treated both teams as equals is Hypocrisy.

Also in the Laws of the Game, saying "F You" to a ref would be foul and abusive and result in a straight red card. Wondoloski received a yellow card for dissent, because that is what he was doing.

You should hope to have a referee like him every week.

Corrales was again among the best players for SJE... he controlled the middle when Baca went out. I'm beginning to agree with the benching Baca and replacing him with RC.

Both Garza and Cato were not very good... I don't understand taking Salinas out when he is the only player making any impact on the attack.

Good on Jahn to find a way to make an impact. He is still slow as molasses, but if he can compensate by reading the game better than anyone but Wondo, that would be great. He finally played up top and won a few headers! I really like Facito's work rate, but I think we play better with someone to dump it to.

    NYRB's defense is not good.

Bostock is out of contract in June, which is why we passed on him I think. There is no guarantee he will be MLS after the first 3 months. Too much risk if we have someone else we like and we can lock up.

In classic Yallop fashion, we don't try to win until we're losing. Thank goodness for Adam Jahn. Welcome to MLS buddy! I hope he can evolve into the target forward we need.

At some point the rest of you are going to have to admit Baca just isn't helping our team. I've been on here for some time now moaning about how much I hate his play and how it hampers our chances on the field. I'm glad some heads have turned on the subject, but too many people have to keep making excuses for the guy. He is a weak link, where movement forward goes to be sidetracked and sent back, where 50/50 ball will go unchallenged. How many times is he going to kill an attack or let opposing players win balls before some of you are going to admit he's a weak link? The guy contributes next to nothing on offense. He creates a huge gap behind the forwards and makes things too easy for opposing teams. I've been closely watching him for years now and this is frustrating to no end, yet some here will write it off as a "bad game." How many bad games does someone have to have before it's deemed that's simply how that player is?? No coincidence we played better this game once he left - it's a trend I've been following since last season.

Baca and Hernandez are guys I want upgraded immediately. They do not help our team win and are most often associated with plays that result in losses.

Cato wasn't great but have more than I expected. Not just saying because of superficial looks, but the way he moved and played looked a lot like Dawkins at LM. Maybe the FO was hoping to put him in and no one would notice? Would explain their infatuation with him.

We need our starters back, pleeease. Chavez We miss most of all, but if just one of the bash bros could get healthy it would make a world of difference.

Got three points where we would have been lucky to get one. Onward Quakes!

So was Roy Miller both the donee of the handball, and the encroacher on the first PK? That's an honorary 13th man, right there.

Watched the game on DVR due to family hike. DVR cut out right after made PK, phew!

I was all ready to make the same "good showing, unfortunate result" speech I made last week, and then we pulled out that 2012 magic.

I honestly felt everyone looked solid the whole match and we just got burned one of those fluke deflections that goes to exactly the wrong place. Basically everyone did what they were good at and where we suffered was simply due to a square hole needing an (injured) square peg.

The motion and ball movement was crisp, midseason form. Baca had a few flubs around the box, (and one early unexpectedly great run early in the game) but he's just not on the field to make that final pass.

I really love how Fucito kept bringing the work rate and he must have annoyed the hell out of New York, if only he were 8 inches taller....

Not sure what more can be said about the Cro Magnum.

Corrales was AWESOME in the hole after the subs.

Garza continues to look promising, hope we'll get to see a lot of him this year.

Jahn stepped up, but really, the whole team did.

NYRB offense was not great either. Especially fun to see Henry blow his shots, evoking much merriment from the crowd. (We haven't forgotten which team gave him his first goal in this country.)

I like Fucito but...he is too short for that position. Nothing against short people (of which I am one) and of course we love Marvin, but it was painful to watch Fucito lose the ball, time and again, to bigger defenders. Maybe he learns to jump 4 feet in the air to compensate. Or attacking mid. Is that a crazy idea?

I hope we did not acquire any new injuries this week. Even without Marquez, they are a team that seems to enjoy inflicting physical pain on their opponents. Off the ball, so the referee and tv cameras don't know about it. I realize I've already mentioned this about three times, so I will shut up about it now, but at times it felt like going to a WWE match and a soccer game broke out, you know?
