LA had to play an extra game so we still have a clear advantage in that respect.

MLS is just having fun every year being a new league and trying new things.

Anybody know of any viewing parties for the game in San Jose for those of us unlucky enough to have to watch the game on ESPN2?

I think the game is on regular espn 1. Not sure if that changes anything..

mlssoccer.com lists it as ESPN2. Doesn't really matter to me, though. I'd just enjoy having a crowd to watch it with.

Yes, at least 3-0 to give a more decisive touch. These 94th minute goals are a definite cardiac threat.

Uhm... Looking ahead on my guide at ESPN2, the game isn't listed at all - it has Sportscenter on instead. Then on Thursday it has a SEMIfinal game scheduled at 6pm.... I'm assuming that's more idiocy on ESPN/DirecTV's part..

Today during the Westbrom-Reading game, the commentators said the game was at 11pm ET. on espn1

ESPN.com has it listed as ESPN2 as well.

If only the person who started this thread would post extremely detailed TV information in the second post, we wouldn't have such confusion!

It's all for tv - they wanted a tv game on Friday so they had to schedule one of the games that night. I think the fact that Seattle/RSL play Friday/Thursday (compared to the Quakes/LA playing Sun/Wed) is balanced out in the next round because LA/SJ will get an extra day's rest before the first leg of the conference finals. The interesting issue is that while the game is supposed to be on Sunday, if Seattle beats RSL then it has to be moved to Monday because the Seahawks play at home on Sunday. So LA/SJ would still get one more day rest, but I think that helps Seattle because they get an extra day to recover from their Thursday game if the next game is moved from Sun to Mon.

Omar (Let me jump in the air as high as I can so they can shoot under me) Gonzalez?

My favorite moment was the whining, arrogant bastard, being the goat on Sunday.

For Wednesday night can't wait to greet Omar and Becks to Buck Shaw!

Just saw on twitter that Dawkins says he's fully fit but the bad news is that Gordon is definitely still hurting. From Robert Jonas on Gordon:
So don't expect him to be starting anytime soon, but hopefully he can continue to give 15-20 minutes as a sub when needed.

Great article. I'm really pleased that the Earthquakes are -- rather than lowering themselves to the abysmal (and abyssal) level of complaining, finger-pointing and generally assholery being exhibited by the filth -- staying on the high-road.

Agreed. They are just opening themselves up to bad karma with the whining and insults, and karma has already been partially delivered to Gonzalez.

Dawkins said he's not close to being fit but willing to do what he can.

I'm guessing he just means that he's not full game fit, because he looked pretty darned good when he came in. If the Quakes could get a good solid 30-40 minutes from him it would really help.

With Garza, Dawkins, Salinas and Chavez (and yes, Virginia, Corrales and Gjertson) we have sufficient bodies to fill the two wing positions, so I'm fairly confident that we'll be able to work around those nagging injuries. I am a bit more concerned regarding Flash's injury, since the likely options for a late sub -- Guvenisic and Khari -- are much less likely to be able to provide any needed late-game fireworks. However, I am more than a bit hopeful that we'll be able to sew this one up BEFORE the 75th minute!

That quote appears to be old, from the Sunday game. On twitter today Jonas said that Dawkins said he was fully fit today at training.

Just another example of "winners train, losers complain".
