By the end of regulation time…

    • If the San Jose Earthquakes win: The Earthquakes advance to the MLS Western Conference Final two-game series against the winner of the Real Salt Lake / Seattle Sounders FC semifinal series.
    • If the game ends in a tie: The Earthquakes advance to the MLS Western Conference Final two-game series against the winner of the Real Salt Lake / Seattle Sounders FC semifinal series.
    • If the San Jose Earthquakes lose by one goal (1-0, 2-1, 3-2, etc.): There will be two 15-minute overtime halves. If the Earthquakes are still down one goal by the end of the second overtime half, penalty kicks will decide the winner.
    • If the San Jose Earthquakes lose by two or more goals (2-0, 3-1, 4-2, etc.): The Earthquakes’ season is over.

LA will throw everything they got. They will get their chances, so will we. We'll catch them on the break a few times and we will win 3-1.

Unless absolute need be, Gordon should not play in this match. If Lenny needs a rest use Khari, because Flash does not look 100% out there.

Hope that I'm proven wrong, but I'm getting some signals that the aggregate will be tied at the end of regulation. Can't tell you what will happen after that - signal is too weak to tell. But be prepared to stay a bit longer at the Buck on Wednesday night.

I'm fine with staying as long as I go home happy and with a blue wig. What is your signal saying about that?

I'm getting a very strong signal that the wigs are indeed blue, but that's all I'm getting right now, sorry. I think there is too much interference right now - there are a lot of whining noisy signals coming from southern California.

Maybe you should adjust your antenna. That usually helps with bad signals.

Just got the game notice from MLS:

    OFFICIALS:
    Referee: Kevin Stott
    AR1 (bench side): Ian Anderson
    AR2 (far side): Brian Poeschel
    Fourth Official: Dave Gantar

Interestingly, the colors are exactly as they were on Sunday: Quakes in black, LA in white, Busch in Green and Saunders in Blue.

Oh, and kickoff is scheduled for 8:18, which is stupid late and means that I probably won't get home until after 11:30.

Whomever put together the schedule badly needs killing...

It does mean that the game won't be over until after their usual bedtime.

Any thoughts as to wether GB will even be there? Never played at Buck Shaw before, will he make an exception now?

As I said in the Garber thread, I believe that he finds the facilities at BS inadequate to his high standards. Making his entourage suffer the cramped visitors locker room would be beastly!

Saunders is cursing his own team by wearing OUR colors, but it seems he's too dumb to realize that. Ha ha!!

We need to crush them. Convincingly! 2-0 would be nice. 3-0 would be much better, and more in tune with the universe!!

    GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAAKES!!!

So any logical reason the SJ/LA series has 3 days between games and RSL/SEA has 6? It just seems like more horrible scheduling from MLS (the 3 week breaks from games we had this year only to have 3 matches in a single week)

I thought about that as well - and it's even more torturous for LA since they played Vancouver a few days ago. Seattle and RSL get almost a week break in between whereas we have 3? Some advantage being the first seed - we got screwed because of the play-in match between 4 and 5. They tried to cram 3 games into the same amount of time as the other fork plays 2. Dumb.

Just get rid of the #5 seed play-in all together. It's stupid and makes a joke of the regular season when half the teams can qualify for the crap-shoot that is the playoffs for the cup.
