Just want to note that "second place is good enough" is not the same as "win at all costs." Sammer has made it pretty clear that he doesn't favor winning at all costs when he says Bayern will not do anything stupid in their transfers.

I'm thinking 'win at all costs' the same way Mourinho does, not spending to oblivion

let's not get carried away now guys.

our guys didn't lose the CL final because "they didn't want it enough" or any of those cliche dumb statements

I always found this to be one of the silliest myths perpetrated in sports when any team loses.

If a team wins, it automatically has the winning mentality. If the team loses, they didn't want it enough.

Sometimes its just not your year.

Well we weren't really ever good enough to win until the very end of that decade. 2009-2012 has been a very good era for us. I hope that the board continues to move in the right direction, because we have the basis to continue challenging at the top for the next 4-5 years.

The real test will come when our current key players start to get old and we need to rebuild.

+1. It's hard to get to this stage and not have a winning mentality. When I played intramural sports in college or pickup games with friends, I put in my all to win. It's hard to imagine that professional athletes, many of whom are amongst the best in the world, don't feel the same. Of course some may, due to a huge swath of circumstances. But generally speaking, players play because they love the game and want to win. It's difficult to get to this stage without having those two qualities.

    I hope so....

I also think robben will be the big issue...

Either we will rely on him too much and he'll play selfishly and pull his usual crap at the final stages or hell be more of a team player and turn his career around..

Somehow I believe hell be his usual self and our over reliance on him could add to our downfall again..

Highly relevant Mark Cuban destroying ESPN "analyst" Skip Bayless video.

It has nothing to do with attitude. It's all about preparation.

Sammer is a great appointment. He is the missing piece to our success.

Until now, there was not a real leader in the team. With Sammer's appointment, that changes. He will sit in the bench. He will be FEARED [mostly out of respect, but also because he could be our potential coach in the future]. I want to see Robben walk off the pitch like a bitch again now.... Sammer will be right there in his face and show him his place.

I think KHR and Uli have brought the team along way in the last 3-4 years. But they are getting tired. This game takes a big emotional toll on you.... and Words can only have so much effect. That's why they decided to get Sammer in. They need a person of AUTHORITY to start taking things over. Obviously, Nerlinger was not the right choice because he does not get enough respect.

I think this was the best buy of this summer. It something that will have a great impact on the future of the club. I could see Sammer one day take over Uli's place in the board.

Please, no. How hard is it for Bayern to keep the management out of the daily affairs of the team? And the idea of Sammer as a Bayern coach when there are waaaay better options out there makes me sick.

fun segment, but I don't think Cuban destroyed him. Cuban needs to speak english before he can destroy someone.

Cuban is better on the "Shark Tank".
