The thing is Burgos signed a pre-contract I think he would have been loaned out around Chile (which would have been a decent option so as to get accustomed to the style of play) since they didn't have an international spot open for him. Can't say what went through his head that's between him and his agent i guess. Derby wanted a house, car setup along with the contract I know it's common practice but Pohl didn't want to budge. But guy should have been smarter with his decision and have chosen to keep at least one option open in El Salvador in case it didn't work out, but no biggie this did open the door for the other young keepers. Menjivar was smart with his decision since even if he did make the team odds are he would be down the depth chart and be bench fodder. He knows he needs to be starting to stay in top form and more than likely figured that with the Timbers he wouldn't have gotten that many starts, i.e. Purdy during his MLS career.
That was a simple waste. I guess as long as Derby starts theres nothing to complain about. While that is true, hes first division material. While were not headed to the WC this year, I feel it would've been better for him to showcase himself in better comps than second division US

We did keep an eye on him when he was a college player, and we discovered he's actually Mexican. His adoptive father is Salvadoran, so he isn't eligible to play for ES.
