Looks like Saints may nab Pele afterall

    http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=403048&CPID=10&clid=20&lid=&title=Saints winning Pele race

Southampton may finally be set to win the race for the highly-sought after Belenenses defender Pele.

The Saints were on the verge of a deal for the 19-year-old Brazilian last January, only for a last-minute hitch to scupper the deal.

But reports in Portugal this week claim a deal has been resurrected that would see Pele switch to The Championship club for a fee of €1.3 million (£900,000).

Well he is actually 28 and not 19 as was originally reported. I am not sure where the press got their information from.

With that said, Pele will be a good pick up for Saints especially in light of Svensson having to come off due to another injury to his knee. :( It sounds like it is another serious injury to the same knee that he has had all the problems with. More should be known tomorrow.

As for Pele, he played the entire 90 minutes today versus Cheltenham and apparently did rather well. There were a few moments of misunderstanding between him and the keeper and his other teammates, but I suspect that will resolve itself as he plays more matches and learns more English.

One other note from tonight's Cheltenham match, Saints had a "mystery" trialist who scored the Saints' first goal. They were afraid to reveal his name but apparently it is the young, Polish midfielder Sebastian Mila. He currently plays with FC Austria Wien and was on this year's Polish World Cup team even though he never played.

The other trialist is a 6'7" midfielder from the Czech Republic by the name of Mario Licka. He also played earlier this week against Bristol City and played well in both games. It will be interesting to see if he makes the squad or not.

Claus may be back and playing in a few weeks. Giddy up!

Ex-Saint Jim Brennan is now the first signing for a new team in Canada, FC Toronto. They'll be part of the MLS which is America's top division. Interesting move on FIFA's part. One could always see a bit why a club in Wales would be in the fizzy pop and such but this is like letting a club in luxemburg play in Belgiums top division or Germany.

Bad new with Belmadi being out for anywhere from 3 months to the rest of the season :

    http://saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=7612

Saints have suffered a major injury set-back ahead of tomorrow's trip to Cardiff with the news that Djamel Belmadi could be out for the rest of the year.
The Algerian winger needs a knee operation and is likely to be out for around three months.

In your reserves and youth there are 2 player which
gordon strachan hand picked as potential worl stars
Aristotle De Carvalho "Totti" and Feliciano Condesso
why the f##k havnt they been given first team
oportunities whiles clowns like dyer and mgoldrick
are given chance after chance, what is it racism
against portuguese i cannot figure it out. At a youth
tournament 2-3 years ago i saw all of these guys play
for southampton Walcott, Dyer, Condesso, Sparv, Totti
and they were the 2 stand outs.

bring young guys through and get a real coach in

Easy there, cheetah. Totti and Condesso are still pretty young. No need to hire them along. Dyer and McGoldrick are not clowns, either.

How long do you think it will be until someone puts in a bid for Bale?

The tabloids are full of crap. Unless Bale wants to leave, he won't be sold. Wilde's also clarified some other misquotes :

    http://www.saintschat.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=130424

"We are trying to build a team to get promoted and you don't do that by selling your best player(s)"

"The January transfer window is an opportunity to improve the first team squad. If any players leave at this time, then it will be with the approval of the manager if he feels they are not part of his first team plans"

"The aim of the manager is to have a squad of around 25 first team players. This does not stop new signings, but some fringe players may well move on if it benefits all parties, including the player himself. If it's a question of keeping the squad size the same yet improving the quality, I'm confident George could do that"

"Income received from player sales will go TOWARDS new players. It does not mean this will be the only funds available to the manager. The club will obviously not publically reveal how much it has to spend as that works against us during any transfer negotiations"

Thanks! I'd like that move. I'm just wondering if it means Burley's going to be selling Rasiak.
