Everyone knows Suarez was doing things to get Evra wound up like pulling on his jersey and kicking him. Read the deposition. The conspiracy theories are getting old. If you can't come to grip with basic facts then what is the point of even commenting. There is a difference between supporting your team and being lost on a different planet when things go wrong. You're like the college students protesting the firing of Joe Paterno. When pride comes before ethics, things collapse. We've seen this show before, my friends.
Managers do make odd acquisitions, don't they? I hear that Pienaar is leaving Tottenham to go back to Everton for £5 million or so, after having left for £3million the first time round.
You learn something everyday, don't you? Tottenham has fined Modric about £80k which is equivalent to about two weeks wages!
Considering they're probably right up against it on the wage bill because they expected him to be gone by now, they had to. This is why they should have waited to resolve the Modric problem before going and splashing tons of wages at Gylfi and Adebayor.
But it's his low wages, mate. £40k per week for such a good player: apparently there are still 4 years left on his contract, too. Even if Tottenham offered more than double his wages when Chelsea started sniffing around and he rejected that offer, I'm still stunned that he was on such relatively low wages when the improved deal was offered.
Hell of a player imo. Made me crazy how he always managed to get open on corners and set pieces. Finally gettin' to that age, I guess.
I do like the move. Will him and Henry work together well up top? I don't know. What's the story with the Designated Player rules now anyways? Everyone has to follow them except the major markets? Typical USA sport. (I am completely ignorant on the rules, before hardcore MLS followers kill me)
MLS Rule #1: LA and NY get to do whatever the hell they want. Rule #2: Every other team, sit down and shut up.
Rule #3: Don't you dare call us a mickey mouse league, or all teh fanz will go cry on internet forums!
How is that typical of American sports? Most leagues have salary caps, which are enforced (the NBA's luxury tax is a bit of an exemption, though in full disclosure I couldn't give less of a shit about the NBA therefore don't really know how the luxury tax works). The only league without a salary cap is baseball, which admittedly favors the large-market teams, but that's no different than the Premier League.
Just read about Frimpong being subject to an F.A. hearing/investigation for calling a Tottenham fan a "yid". Arsenal give him a stern talking to. Rio Ferdinand directly promoted the term "choc ice" on Ashley Cole. United support him, not sure if the F.A are looking into the matter. Terry and the irrelevant Ferdinand still need to be looked at by the F.A. Both Frimpong and R.Ferdinand had strong things to say about suarez.
chelsea has been linked with everyone this summer. also - good to see that they have decided to spend some money for a change.......
