Huge comeback. Coentrao with some huge plays toward the end there that helped the team get the win. Great stuff.

I know the team has to keep believing that they can catch Porto, but I just don't think it's going to happen. Officiating aside, Porto looks like they are going to break some records in the Liga if they keep this up. Benfica is playing solid right now, but Porto just won't crap out.

I hope we don't put too much energy into the Liga and crap out of Europa. I would be thrilled if we could win Europa. I think the focus should be on Europa. Try and keep winning in the Liga, but really prepare for Europa. Hell, I would even rest players and completely focus on Europe.

Interesting fact. Zenit Petersburg are interested in Fabio Coentrao and was at the Estadio da Luz in today's match to watch him. What a game to watch, huh? Huge game for Coentrao with the game winner.

I'll confess undying affection for Oprah if Fabio Coentrao ever joins such a team.

Ac Milan, both Manchester's, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid, Bayern Munich are all looking at him.

He sure is classy. Benfica keeps piling up the amount of fights and altercations with opposing teams. Hey, it worked for them last year so no wonder they'll try it again this one. And why are they allowed? Must be PdC's fault, of course.

As for Coentrao, I'd hate to see him at Zenit. Look at Bruno Alves, arguably one of the top CB's in the world and goes to Zenit and loses his form.

#1 choice for Coentrao would be Real Madrid. #2 Manchestor United. # 3 Chelsea with David Luiz and Ramires.

That's roughly where I'd like him to go, as well. Only place in Italy I'd like to see him at is probably Milan right now, maybe Inter. Bayern wouldn't be a bad choice either. Big club and they've had great fullbacks (Lizarazu, Sagnol, Lahm, etc.)

I can't see United (Evra there) or Chelsea (Cole there).

I think its gonna be Madrid, Bayern, Milan or Barca. I'd love to see him at Spurs with Bale, that left flank would be unreal.

I would love him to join CFC with Luiz and Ramires , who are both firm fan favourites.

I know he plays as a Wing Back for you guys but is he just as capable as a LW?

He is naturally a LW. Still effective at that position, but he without a doubt made a name for himself at the LWB position. He plays well at LW, but if you want his full potential and effectiveness, he's best at LB.

With Cole, Zhirkov and Malouda already on the left, I can't see him at Chelsea as a LWB or a LW.

I cant agree with you enough here...Fc Porto just wont be caught...SLB fudged up the beginning of the year to much...BTW how come FC Porto never has these types of games were you need to go get your blood pressure checked after watching the game, seems like these keepers just save their best against Benfica..The last time Benfica won back to back titles Reagan was in office...Focus on Europe, would like to see them hit at least the semis or more...FORCA

Every team Porto plays just parks the bus and the train in front of the net. They close up with all 10 field players behind the ball. We do struggle to break teams down too.

Yep. Cardozo may not be a striker I particularly appreciate but he certainly is very useful in Benfica's system to break down such teams. He might have made his come back at the right time (when the new signings are finally clicking) but I think Benfica missed him terribly this season.

And now this is Porto's championship to lose. 9 games to go and 8 points. :D

Malouda is going to Hercules in La Liga for 8 million and Zhirkov is leaving at the end of the season. So there is a big chance he could go to Chelsea, especially with our growing relationship with them.

Completely agree. Cardozo was out for 3 months and it was a huge lose. As soon as he came back, he was in the biggest form of his career, scoring goal after goal and dribbling fantastically and doing moves we've never seen from him but then fell into a draught. He is now slowly improving once again and not necessarily scoring many goals, but very important crucial goals when needed. Who knows if he didnt miss those 3 months, he could be competing for the top goal scorer again.

Hoping to see Porto feel the pressure soon. Maybe a lose or a couple of ties to make the rest of the season a little more interesting with Benfica in one of the best forms they've ever been in.
    1 people repped this.
