Players can no longer be loaned to first division teams, only 2nd division. This soccer "law" was just passed in Portugal. With that said David Simão terminated his contract with Benfica because he didn't have room on JJ's team and didn't want to be loaned to a 2nd division team. This is unfortunate, this kid was an amazing midfielder with tons of talent. Soo much potential, but I can understand the situation.
See its already having an ill effect on the youth systems. Now it can either lead to the Portuguese league becoming more balanced or that talent leaving to another country. I think the rule won't last long at all.
Though I don't necessarily agree with the new rule, it's supposed purpose is to encourage and develop Portuguese youths and discourage buying foreigners. Pretty much targeted at Benfica and Porto buying Brazilians and other South Americans and shipping them on loan.
