Rosenthal fell off my list; no idea why. I will try to confirm Allison's citizenship. As for Ritter, I think he's still looking for a club, correct?
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWNnifawXaY"]Halmstad BK - Degerfors IF 2012 Highlights - YouTube[/ame] I watched the double-yank game earlier today between Ryan Millers Halmstad and Brian Edwards Degerfors. The game ended in a 2-0 home victory for Halmstad which was a pretty fair result if you look at the amount of chances created. Degerfors play pretty neat football at times but they are really missing any punch to their attack. That was the main difference today as Halmstads forwards looked much sharper. Miller played the full 90 minutes at right back and had an ok game overall. You didn't notice him very much which isn't necessarily a negative thing for a defender.

If anyone could tell me how do best paste an excel format etc, it would help. Also, just saw Markus Holgersson struggle for the NY Redbulls. The MLS looks like a big step up for the kid or he is months out of shape, what are your thoughts? Should Ryan Miller go find stiffer comp? Try the "code" tags to preserve spacing. Re: Holgersson, he himself said MLS would be a step up, so I would give him some time. Not sure if Ryan miller can handle stiffer comp
A few possible edits: Crnkic isn't with Sandvikens to the best of my knowledge; Zeito has told me he isn't American and officials from Haynes's last two clubs have told me the same about him; it's unclear that Torres is a Yank, though it's possible; and I'm pretty sure Alexander hasn't been with Vasa for several seasons.
It's that they've dropped down a level. They were pretty much a second division quality team last year already even though they were still playing in the first division. During the winter they replaced many players from last season with new ones of about the same quality but with likely a better attitude towards grinding it out in the second division. Having watched their first two games it's clear that they either still need some time to make the team gel, or maybe this is the way the team will look this season and they will end up in mid-table. I've never watched him play for New York but Holgersson has always been a player who survived because of his attitude and work ethic rather then his footballing talent (which is pretty limited), so I suspect that he will keep grinding to the best of his abilities. Like Gorky wrote, I agree that this is the correct level for Ryan Miller to be playing at. I can also confirm that Haynes is not american, since he's pretty well known over here. Other corrections besides those others offered are that Lester Dewee is playing forward and not winger, Baggio Husidic central midfield and not winger, and Samuel Petrones club is "Mjallby AIF", not "Mjanllby AIF"
Super helpful on the player positions, thank you! Holgersson is struggling, effort and hardwork we had with Mendes and Keel. Hopefully he adapts quickly.
It's time for a long overdue update on the currently longest serving american footballer in Sweden. I've kind of forgotten to post in here which is a bit unfair to Miller because both he and Halmstad have looked quality lately! I have watched them a bunch of times on TV and they often look a class above their opponents which have resulted in the club quietly making their way up the table. Chances are good that they will be in the fight for the promotion spots at the end of the season. Sure, it's against lower level opponents after being relegated but it's still an impressive improvement. Miller has often received alot of praise from the tv-commentators during the broadcasts. Here's also a newspaper quote describing Miller this season: He has also provided two assists so far this season, as can be seen in the video below. I remember that the commentators debated if the first one really was a pass or a failed shot. For the purpose of this positive report let's say it's a great pass!
He's playing right back again, correct? That probably has to do with his improved performances this year.
His first year in Halmstad he played right back then moved to left back when Salomonnson moved back on the field. He played well enough to get a US camp invite, but he went there post knee-surgery and wasn't quite ready. Last year, for some reason Halmstad played him at center back and he didn't show well. This year he's back to his natural position for the first time in 2 years and he's showing it. He's mature, smart, athletic and fast and the back line is performing great together. I'm not sure why the US doesn't look at him again--their back line is certainly a work in process.
Ryan Miller continues to tear it up in Superettan. Halmstad has won their two latest games in which Miller has supplied four (!) more assists making for a season total of six. This has propelled him up to a tied second place among the best assist makers in the swedish second tier. The latest game was broadcast on TV so you can see the those two assists in the video below (Miller is #4). Unfortunaly I missed the game so I can't comment further on his performance in more depth. Here's how the americans, keepers excluded, have done point-wise so far in this years Superettan: Code: Goals Assists Ryan Miller 0 6 Adis Husidic 1 1 Billy Schuler 1 1 Patrick Hopkins 0 1 Steffen Vroom 0 0 Lester Dewee 0 0
These are impressive. The first is a laser beamright bent right to his target. The second is pure athleticismwith the recognition to lay the ball off. Great stuff from Ryan.
Miller have been posting these text interviews with him on his Facebook. They're slightly odd but funny and also sometimes informative: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150877013800832&id=120480255831 http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150945401640832&id=120480255831 http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150968154990832&id=120480255831 http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150974069930832&id=120480255831 http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10151039051260832&id=120480255831 Here are some pieced together excerpts:
Ryan Miller and his third place Halmstad had a huge game yesterday against second place Brommapojkarna. I kept an eye on the game (even though I was watching other games too) and Miller once again looked rock solid like he has done all season. Halmstad also got the well deserved 3-0 win which puts them in a great place going forward since the teams chasing behind them don't look likely to catch up and Brommapojkarna above them seem to be slipping in their form. Code: Öster 21 17 3 1 44-19 54 Brommapojkarna 21 14 0 7 40-40 42 ------------------------------------------------------- Halmstad 21 12 5 4 44-21 41 ------------------------------------------------------- Ängelholms FF 21 9 6 6 31-33 33 Hammarby 21 8 7 6 26-25 31 Landskrona BoIS 21 9 4 8 28-29 31 Ljungskile SK 21 8 6 7 27-29 30
Has his form reached the level that it was when he got the camp invite, a few years back? If he was to get the call, it wouldn't be before January, but I'd guess that Klinsmann would want him back in the first division, before calling him into anything.
He is in the last year of his contract with Halmstad so there's no risk for him to get stuck if he wants to move on in that case.
Gigantic win for Miller and his Halmstad tonight against Öster who had only been beaten once previously this season. Öster also took the 2-0 lead, with Miller messing up on the second goal (0:22 into the highlights clip). Miller did well besides that sequence though, and in a magic comeback Halmstad ended up winning the game 3-2 which moves them up past Brommapojkarna (who lost their game yesterday) into the second automatic promotion spot: Code: Öster 25 19 4 2 51-24 61 Halmstad 25 16 5 4 54-24 53 ------------------------------------------------------- Brommapojkarna 25 17 0 8 47-33 51 ------------------------------------------------------- Ljungskile SK 25 11 6 8 32-30 39 SvenskaFans also posted an interview with Miller a couple of days ago. The most noteworthy things I guess are that he really didn't like when he had to play central defender last year and that he will wait and see if Halmstad gets promoted before he even starts thinking about where he will play next season.
