For the love of God, how has Ionov's career advanced this far? I don't get it.

Line up apart from one or two players was ideal. Armenia matches up perfectly for us and it showed, poor defense and open football = death against Russia.

The final Russian squad was released by Capello yesterday.

Goalkeepers: Igor Akinfeyev (CSKA Moscow), Yury Lodygin (Zenit St. Petersburg), Sergei Ryzhikov (Rubin Kazan)

Defenders: Vasily Berezutsky (CSKA Moscow), Vladimir Granat (Dynamo Moscow), Andrei Yeshchenko (Anzhi Makhachkala), Sergei Ignashevich (CSKA Moscow), Alexei Kozlov (Dynamo Moscow), Dmitry Kombarov (Spartak Moscow), Andrey Semenov (Terek Grozny), Georgy Schennikov (CSKA Moscow)

Midfielders: Denis Glushakov (Spartak Moscow), Igor Denisov (Dynamo Moscow), Alan Dzagoyev (CSKA Moscow), Yury Zhirkov (Dynamo Moscow), Alexey Ionov (Dynamo Moscow), Alexander Samedov (Lokomotiv Moscow), Victor Faizulin (Zenit St. Petersburg), Oleg Shatov (Zenit St. Petersburg), Roman Shirokov (Krasnodar)

Forwards: Maxim Kanunnikov (Amkar Perm), Alexander Kerzhakov (Zenit St. Petersburg), Alexander Kokorin (Dynamo Moscow)

All around solid team, which should have no issue getting out of Group H. Korea has been treading water the last year or so, Algeria doesn't have enough fire power and Belgium haven't been on the "big stage" yet, which is crucial in pressure situations like this.

They say that every time Russia goes into a major tournament...

Ionov being there is just another stern reminded of how far away we are from a being a top footy nation, and btw I think that Belgium will run this team for 90 minutes win, draw, or lose.

Belgium will run almost any team in the world for 90 minutes, the problem is will they have the patience to tactically break a team down if they go down 1-0 or it's a draw and they're bunkering like Alergia will.

Congrats to Kerzhakov, surpassed Beschastnykh as Russia's all time leading scorer (28) with a double in a 4-0 win over Azerbaijan. Here's what bugs me though, only 3500 in attendance! Are you friggin' kidding me?!?!?!?

I bet they'll have a full stadium for that stupid Spartak-Red Star friendly but they couldn't even get 4k for a NT game?! Get the fvck outta here lol.
