Hacking that missing girl's phone is so reprehensible.

    Re: Murdoch's Demise?

It is, and the fact that he created a culture where this was SO prevalent is unacceptable. That he shuttered the paper and fired the reporters, but not the CEO of the operation looks really bad too.

I just wonder if this is a moment where 'gray-arts' journalism is exposed throughout the News Corp empire. And I wonder if I will get the schadenfreude of watching Murdoch's company fall into ruin.

Plus bribing cops, and hacking into the phones of politicians and various victims of calamity. And keeping the CEO whilst canning the staff.... awful, just awful. Murdoch and his right wing rags prove to be more than just bad sources of information; they seem to be criminal enterprises.

Might any of our resident legal friends know if the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act could be made to apply? RICO?

How about if Holder were simply to stand at a podium and encourage Fox stockholders to sell sell sell before its too late?

and hacking in relatives of dead British soldiers killed in Iraq/Afganistan plus london bombing victim relatives and if reports are true then even 9/11 victim relatives could of been hacked. It's amazing that Murdoch is prepared to shut down a newpaper of circulation of £2.8m and withdraw a £8Billion bid for BskyB than fire Rebekah Brooks!

She must know a lot of things me thinks, and Murdoch is scum, pure scum.

The FBI has opened an investigation into allegations that media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. sought to hack into the phones of Sept. 11 victims, a law enforcement official said Thursday.

The decision to investigate was made after U.S. Rep. Peter King, a Republican, wrote FBI Director Robert Mueller demanding an investigation, said the official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly. The FBI had received letters from King and other members of Congress.

Can't find the video, but there was some police lieutenant (iirc) in a press conference yesterday defending what had gone on, and he didn't even know that he himself had been hacked. A reporter asked how he felt about it, to which he responded "well, even if I had been hacked...", only to be interrupted by "you were hacked!"

His response was classic - bewilderment and shock all at once. :D

I hear the met police are going to be part of the enquiry team in the UK, How can anyone trust them after members of that police force took bribes from NOTW and as you said defending what was going on!

Peter King. The man who was all for killing Englishmen when he was palling around with IRA butchers. He should be praising Murdoch, not criticizing him.

    Re: Murdoch's Demise?

    Great, isn't it.

The thing is, (and this goes to the issue of whether 9/11 victims or their relatives have been hacked), if they're hacking dead schoolgirl's and dead British servicemen's phones, why WOULDN'T they hack 9/11 victim's phones. I mean, if that's the criteria 9/11 victims are precisely the sort of stuff they'd be looking for.
I understand what you're saying but I have to say, Akers comes across quite well. Like the little woman always says... 'They've found something to do the work of ten men - one woman' :D
It is the same fella, isn't it. I thought I recognised him. Obviously just an attention whore by the looks of it.
Really? Looks like he might have kicked that gig into touch :D

My only hope is that every shred of the News Corporation empire is wiped off the face of the earth.

    Except FSC.

    Re: Murdoch's Demise?

They can take Fox Sports Español and it won't be missed, at least the one in the US. It used to be a good channel for a while, but since it morphed into yet another all-Mexico sports channel it's become redundant. We already have ESPN Deportes and a bunch of other channels for Mexican sports.
