I emailed Rugby Canada to ask and they (quickly) replied that it would be within the next 15 days and to keep an eye out on their events page for more details.

I'm hoping that there is a good turnout for this match. I imagine that if the response is good then that will increase the likelihood that BMO Field will be chosen in the near future to host the Churchill Cup finals.

That would be awesome, I'd love to see a Saxons-Canucks matchup live and in a proper stadium. The tickets start at $19.75 according to the page for the USA match, so I'll probably be going. Especially given how very difficult it's going to be to watch any of the games from the 2011 World Cup without already knowing the scores.

This is exciting news. I'm looking forward to getting down to BMO for the match.

Did any of you guys watch the Rock v. Wolf Pack matchup back in autumn on CBC?

For a Canadian broadcast crew the Rugby coverage was pretty sweet.

REALLY looking forward to this test in August.

I went to Chicago for the Churchill Cup finals in 2008 at Toyota Park. It was Canada vs USA, Argentina A vs. Ireland A and Saxons vs. Scotland A. All three matches for one price and the atmosphere was fantastic. Rugby fans from all over N America came to watch and I even met a few people from Europe who were on holiday in Florida at the time and made a special trip just for those matches. I'd love it if the same thing could happen at BMO Field and increase the profile of the sport in Toronto.

As for this year's RWC, you may be able to find **************** for the games at www.theempire.bz pretty soon after the matches finish. The cappers there usually turn stuff around really quickly. If they manage it for RWC 2011, you may only need to keep your head in the sand for a couple of hours.

Looking more closely at the pricing structure of the tickets, I think they (Rugby Canada) may have really done themselves a disservice, as I think that the prices are far too high and will keep the casual sports fan away.

As an example, when I went to the Churchill Cup finals in Chicago, the tickets I had were $50.00 a piece, but that was for three games, featured 6 Nations national teams and I was right in the middle of the stands.

I hope I am wrong and lots of people show up, but I get the feeling that this is going to be a poorly attended event.

It is still a few months off, they may drop prices if sales are stagnant.

    Here's a question to anybody following this thread;

Do you think that if this is a successful test match (not in terms of on field performance, but for sales and generating interest) that we'll be seeing more of them at BMO in future? Perhaps a shot at Saputo someday?

One thing I think would be really cool would be to host an IRB Sevens Series in Toronto.

Globe and Mail had an article yesterday that more than 10k tickets had been sold.

Nice to see the Canadians getting some use out of this and a bigger presence. Contrast that to the U.S. which are holding their game in a stadium that seats 3k.

Went to the game today...really enjoyed it. Canada victorious 28-22! It was nice to see the USA competitive against us as every other match I've seen between us and them has been a bit one-sided (granted I've seen only a handful). Probably close to (but not quite) 10,000 in attendance.

Yes, it was a good time! I had someone with me who has played a lot of rugby ... so that helped explain some of the odder things I've never been able to fathom on television.

    10,621 according to the Globe - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/canada-beats-us-in-rugby-world-cup-tuneup/article2121995/

The lower half of the east stands didn't seem to have an empty seat. Upper and south was empty, buy west was very full, except for the top of some of the intermediate tiers. And looked as though there were a lot of group sales in the north that was pretty full.

With most sections packed to the gills, it felt a lot fuller than a TFC game feels with only 10,000.

And the grass seemed to survive relatively well. Not sure that would have been true if the game had been on Sunday.

Rugby Canada must be thrilled! I wonder what the record attendence for Rugby in Canada is ... well at least since WW2 ... go too far back and the Argos and Tigercats were still playing Rugby!
