We always manage to make a few mediocre forwards look great each season. How did Olave AND Beltran both get burned on that cut back?
well...not much to say there. i am just wondering have we ever had a match in this season that we have been up a man?
Well, now he knows that he's got to get in there, and reverse the CR's decisions. Also, if we win, Rimando's playing for man of the match.
This sucks. I hate watching these games with us down a man. Can we really hold it together for 15 minutes?
Both goalkeepers have been incredible tonight. Nicky = MOTM. Sabo was fabulous, but all those saves while a man down really made the difference.
I can see Johnson's red being valid. The only problem is the Ref who was closer to the play was going to go yellow but the sideline assistant over ruled him. The Ref on the field needs to have better eyes. NE got screwed by their red card. Reis and Rimando might get all 5 GOTW nominations.
wow... just Wow.. That was an ugly match in many ways. The reffing being the main point of ugly, but at least it was more or less evenly distributed across the two teams. Desperate play in both defenses. New England has a lot of talent, they will be a force to reckon with as the season goes on. 3 points is 3, good job boys! On a different topic, on Direct Kick we had the New England feed and their announcing crew showed minimal bias in their calling of the game. Enjoyable.
I like their PBP guy. I can't think of anything in particular that I like, but he definitely doesn't make me want to put a fork in my eye, like so many other local broadcast teams.
Phew! That last half hour was tense. I'm really getting tired of red cards. Will's was the right call I think (although we've seen a yellow for a foul like that lots of times), but it was frustrating to see the yellow come out only to be switched for a red. NE got screwed with their red. I liked how RSL played in the first half (minus the NE goal). Hard to judge the second half with the red card. I would really like to see our starting XI play a full game sometime...I think they might do pretty well.
It must be a different person than they had before, then. The guy they had just last year was god awful. As for the match, Nicky is the easy MOTM. Though, if Johnson isn't an idiot and gets a red, Sabo gets it. After that red we turned off our attack and didn't really give Sabo anything while telling Nicky to save our asses. I'm sticking to my thought that Steele is an offensive sub only. If we are tied at home and/or losing then he should come on. Otherwise go with Luis or Yordany (who must have killed Kreis' kid's teddy bear or something) I really like Feilhaber when he puts on a USA kit. In a new england one, though? He's a dick
YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM!!!!! This humble pie taste so good!! Now that is what I am looking Sabi to do!! Ref was awful, but whatever. oop: I am still newer to soccer, and I know RSL plays a position style, but holy cow there are times I am yelling at the TV, "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!" On to another 3 in 8! C'mon Velasquez!
Same PBP guy in New England for at least a decade - Brad Feldman. The big difference this year is his pairing with Jeff Causey, who is a much more balanced commentator than Greg Lalas (with whom he paired for many years) or Jay Heaps, who followed Lalas.
Does he actually even touch him? Serious question. I can't tell after watching, stopping, watching, and stopping the replay. Pay particular mind to how Johnson's leg doesn't buckle at the apparent moment of impact, how his foot actually dips prior to the the apparent moment of contact, and how Simm's leg doesn't react to the apparent contact until well after Johnson's foot dips. I admit that I could be totally wrong, but I don't think he touches him. High boot. It's a yellow. But red? Not so sure.
