I've actually been impressed with the way New England has played recently, that Sene is really good with the ball at his feet so it will be important to keep him well marked (i'm looking at you beckerman). They are pretty good at passing through tight spaces as well, gotta keep the defense compact. This wont be our typical annual revs beatdown at home, much closer given the way our defense has been playing. EDIT: for some random reason i noticed that i've lost like well over half of the rep i used to have with the board format change, weird. and this new trophy system is really lame.
I'm also excited for this game! Cinco de Mayo should mean a great tailgate! And despite how well NE has been playing, I think we will have pretty good control of the match and get three points. Unfortunately, I don't see us having another blow out.
That is just bad as all hell. Great job! Now I've got "Don't stop me now" running crazy in my mind... And please, don't stop Krhoades! We're having such a good time!
I like this er I mean I "repped"it I wanna just echo the "what the hell is this shit" sentiment towards the new look seriously what the hell is this shit?
Also like that tifo. Also joining on the hate of the new BS. I get needing to upgrade, but I don't see the point in saying 'but there will be all these features once we get around to it!' I think the lagginess could've held out another week or two while they planned a full update not this halfway done crap.
Great: @MCLTribune: Another young ref for #RSL vs. NE on Saturday: David Gantar, who has given 4 reds and 1 penalty in 8 career MLSgames After last years NE bullshit and all the crap we've seen this year I dont know if I can handle more crap reffing. This is getting ridiculous. Someone needs to inform the league that RSL isnt their "new ref guinea pig" gig. Tired of getting these inexperienced guys who hand out red cards and pks like candy.
I agree. I just saw that myself and my first reaction was "you've got to be kidding." However, I'm going to hold off on the inevitable rage that will come with more crappy officiating until the match is finally over. Who knows, he might call a decent match. It could happen!
This is the same ref from the SJ game last year where Sabo went down and SJ got a red card. Sry I’m still not calling it a dive, the CB impeded Sabo and he avoided a collision that could have injured either/both players. So will Gantor come with the same favoritism or will he be looking to red card Sabo? I'm guessing the latter.
I'm interested to see how Joseph and Beckerman match up. I wonder what the odds are that one of them gets booked, or ejected. I sure can't wait for this match.
It is annoying with all the young refs in our games. However I'd like to see statistics over the last few years of how many new MLS refs we get (new could mean anything, mayby <10,15, or 20 games), compared to other teams. When we get a "new ref" on his 8th game, that means 7 other games (14 possible teams) had that ref. It sucks we seem to get a lot but do we actually get more than other teams?
And Kyle is 1 game away from eliminating a Yellow on good behavior. Chances are excellent we will be missing him for the next game.
I wonder if there is still a bit of bad blood between the two teams given last years games. The match there saw a couple red cards and that moron defender of theirs throw Johnson into the boards. The game here was... interesting to say the least. The early tempo of this match will be critical. With New England just playing on Wednesday, it would be wise for RSL to push things from the opening whistle. If it doesn't pay off then, it could very easily be what wears them down in the last 20. We should have a rage face tifo for refs.
Eh? Eh? I'm looking forward to a very interesting match up. I think it will be a close one. I'm not good at looking at the details of strategy and the like before matches quite yet, but it seems like NE is improved from last year, even if the standings don't show it quite yet. It'll be a good game.
From the Revs boards. If this is accurate, I am hoping for a repeat of the 2009 (6-0) and 2010 (5-0) games here. I can do without the late game drama again.
That Saer Sene guy is the type of player who could have a good game against us, so hopefully he is out for our sakes. Also, ******** Kevin Alston
That's a lot of people out. I guess that *should* be good for us since they don't really have many people available to rotate. We still need to smartly press them from the opening whistle to wear them down. The sooner we can score the better.
Sene has been fun to watch, while Moreno has been blah IMO. There's some interesting things going on in NE for the first time in a long time, and I will happily accept some short-term illness to open things up for us tonight.
We're officially trotting out our first-choice lineup: RimandoWingert Borhcers Olave BeltranGrabavoy Beckerman Morales JohnsonSaborio Espindola And the NER forward is Blake Bretschneider rather than one of their danger men. Nice.
Blowing a pair of breakaways in the same half is not what one wants to celebrate the birth of a child. C'mon Fabi . . .
