They look beyond bad. They've lost both of their games this year 1-0 to Vancouver and Houston. No excuse to not win this game [LINEUP-4-4-2]Espy, Paulo, Grabs, Gil, KB, Velasquez, Wingert, Olave, Schuler, Tony, Nicky[/LINEUP-4-4-2] Bench: Reynish, Borchers, Cruz, Alvarez, Javi, Steele, Saborio Go for the jugular.
A word of advice to any non-STH's wanting to attend this game. Absolutely, positively, get your tickets before Saturday - and arrive early to get into the gates. Saturday morning is 'free' ticket give-away (POAP) at the RIOT - the line will be long and the game will sell out. Can't wait for this game - The weather should be good and the RIOT will be rocking.
Do we have permission to throw beer cans and batteries at Mondaini? If nothing else he should be booed mercilessly on every touch. My brother and I actually use the word "Chivas" at all matches, anytime another team passes the ball out of bounds unintentionally. Happened a lot vs. NYRB.
That's not very Kreis-like. I'm glad he's not in the league anymore. "The tackle" should be much less of a talking point for this week's game.
3 points is a must and should be easy to get. It'll be nice going in to Portland next week with the full 9 points. Getting even one point at Jeld Wen is going to be really tough. I see the same lineup again with the same subs as the pink cows match. If Espy keeps up his work rate from the first two games, I can see him getting a brace, if not a hat-trick!
Ah, the good old 2005 expansion club derby. One of my favorite RSL memories is the 2005 game when Andy Williams scored MLS' 5000th goal and Mathis got red carded.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0QHWOsG0WA"]MLS Goal #5000[/ame] Awesome match report with awesome final quote from a certain Clint Mathis: "That is the object of the game to win games and make the playoffs." I, for one, hope for a good, hard fought game with no injuries for either side. A thorough beat-down/shutout of Chivas would also be nice. I'm thinking 3-0 or 4-0.
if we give up a goal to Chivas, a team that has zero offense when you look at them, then I'll be pissed. It's not going to be overly easy to score on them, but it should come. Kennedy can stand on his head and make saves all he wants, but we should be able to find the net at least two times. Anyone else fearing this might be a trap game?
I'm with Burn, that 5,000th goal was a great memory! And after watching the clip again, I'm thinking they need to do a "throwback" jersey night with those. Especially the long sleeved! I forgot how much I liked the original kits.
You bet your ass they do. http://www.bk.com/en/us/menu-nutrition/category10/menu-item34/index.html Yep, I did just post a burger king link in the big soccer forum...hahaha.
Kinda telling how shitty this team is for RSL to be giving away free tickets. I would be a little wary of a let down in this match after beating the two super clubs of two weeks in a row. Or the team coming in with it's focus off the actual task at hand, memories of Mondaini might do more harm than good. Would be nice to see Sabo get on the scoreboard in this one because of all our strikers he seems to need positive reinforcement the most.
was this the infamous kick to the chest game which was so eloquently captured by a photog on our forum? or was that in 2006? cant remember. i've never been so pissed at an RSL match though, plus being surrounded by idiot chivass fans didnt exactly help.
You would welcome Steele to drop some metal on chives? Or You would welcome Steele to insure against a mental meltdown? Or Steele will give Sabo the needed assist to make him happy and complete? If all three I would agree 100%
he might be in the 18 this week, he is going to be playing in the RSL reserve match tomorrow and how he feels after that will determine if he suits or not this weekend. he's not 100% yet and is nowhere near game shape. i expect over the next couple weeks he'll probably start getting some minutes in regular games depending on how those games play out. him along with javi and sabo are being worked into the starting XI slowly, its so early in the season and the team is playing relatively well there is no rush to get them 90 minutes fit as soon as possible.
I'm going out on a limb with an early 2-0 prediction again this week. Espindola continues his form and gets 1, Olave gets the other.
I want a goal off of a set piece. We have had numerous chances in the past two games and just haven't produced anything. I also never want to see Espy take a corner again. While we all praised him in that New York game for recovering and stopping Henry from scoring/crossing, it all was a result of his terrible corner. I was happy to see him make the recovery run, but you know it was him going "oh shit, I'm going to be benched if they score off of this"
