Re: The Playoff Chase Picked up my tickets yesterday to first playoff game. Upper deck. I hope there's not a bitter wind blowing.
Re: The Playoff Chase Whenever the game is, my tickets are good for it. I went to the RioT to buy tickets to the Portland game. They had signs up announcing that playoff tickets were for sale, so I bought them. Saved me a trip and I got the seats I wanted.
Re: The Playoff Chase I'll obviously be rooting for your opponents throughout the playoffs, but there's a small part of me that will chuckle at the rest of the league if one of us wins it and keeps the MLS Cup in the Rockies for another season.
Re: The Playoff Chase RSL has had them for sale for quite some time now, actually. About a week after we qualified for the playoffs they had them on sale. I got an extra one (via voucher) at that time. Oct 29th - it better be. The only problem there is the Utah game will conflict with it unless RSL plays a day game.
Re: The Playoff Chase So D.iving C.heaters United has been eliminated? can we call that a slice of karma?
Re: The Playoff Chase This must be a sign of the apocalypse ... 15 and Canyonvue agreeing on something?? I hope everyone has emergency kits ready and their cars topped off.
Re: The Playoff Chase you would hope so. Of course, Vancouver was playing for nothing but pride when we went there, and we saw how that went
Re: The Playoff Chase which would you rather see: Houston v Dallas in the wild card (that would be interesting) with cRapids v New York (can they both lose?) or Dallas v New York (interesting matchup) with cRapids v Philly (can you say ugly football?)
Re: The Playoff Chase I'd go for option #1, but as long as the cRapids lose, it doesn't matter much to me either way.
Re: The Playoff Chase So we are set for RSL, we play Seattle next Saturday as Western #3. Lets go! I'm kinda hoping for a Houston win tomorrow.
Part of a post on the Flounders board. Reasons why the poster would rather face RSL than FCD in the playoffs: "5) RSL fouls less and will play a fair game. That benefits us a ton. 6) Yet.... RSL loves to get sent off... I know, right? 7) And they rely on Olave too much, hence why we snapped their streak. And, on a level of personal sentiment... I just don't think RSL has it in them this year. They just don't have the heart. They had a heartbreaking loss in CCL, had a team-favorite go down, managed to grind out a season... but now they're just a team looking for a place to lie down."
"And, on a level of personal sentiment... I just don't think RSL has it in them this year. They just don't have the heart. They had a heartbreaking loss in CCL, had a team-favorite go down, managed to grind out a season... but now they're just a team looking for a place to lie down." Their heart is as strong as ever. Their heart to win and be the best is still there. Their belief that they're good enough is there as well. Or they wouldn't even be where they are in the standings. BUT I see that they're very tired of this regular season. And like me, when I got home, I breathed a sigh of relief that it was ended, and then I cheered. I'm honest. I see eye to eye with Will Johnson it seems every time. He tells it as it is. He said in a tweet "...good riddance to the regular season, on to the playoffs!" You don't say good riddance to a season if you have any love for it, if it hasn't been weighing heavily on you, and you haven't just been waiting for the day when it's over. Once again, hallelujah this stressful season has ended! Yeah, they've been looking to lie down for a few weeks now. Lay the regular season down and get it off them. I know I have. And now it is off of them. And with the result they wanted. They've got to breathe a sigh of relief and feel much lighter. I know I do. I'm sure getting the final result they wanted is part of the fact that I feel fine going forward. I bet you the fact they got the result they wanted lightened their mood last night, too. In fact, I read that when they found out they'd be third there was a visible lightening of the mood in the locker room. BTW, they wouldn't have been unhappy with the result immediately after the game if they didn't have heart and wanted to just lie down. Takes common sense to piece that kind of stuff together, I guess. I bet you it'll be like a big, huge weight has come off their shoulders. I know that's how I feel. The playoffs are a whole different ball game, and a clean slate. I'm looking forward to them, and from the comments I've seen from the players, so are they, very much. And they do seem somewhat relieved and lighthearted today. Kreis himself had to roll his eyes and shake his head at the regular season in the post conference last night, and seems positive about the playoffs. Yeah, they were looking to lie down during the end of the season, for sure. But now this is the playoffs. A whole different scenario. They have Kyle coming back. It's obvious they're all very much looking forward to the playoffs. If you think otherwise, well, you really have missed a lot.
Here's the players' Twitter comments for your reading pleasure: Chris Wingert: Not the result we wanted, but happy to finish in 3rd... thanks again to the fans for another amazing atmosphere at the RioT! see you guys sat Sounds like no heart to me. Didn't want that 3rd at all. Wasn't fighting for it. Will Johnson: That was tough to take last night, we really wanted that for all of you. Good riddance to that regular season and bring on the playoffs! No heart here. My sentiments exactly. I love Will. Nat Borchers: Uncharacteristic of us to throw away points like that. Thank you all for your support. See you next week. #playoffs Regret equals no heart. Not looking forward to the playoffs, either. Nick Rimando: Once again you guys were amazing, thanks 4 all the support. 90mins of great stuff but it only takes 1min to lose points. must stay focused! Has no heart. Didn't want to win. Just wants to lie down. No desire to improve in the future whatsoever. ----- I like what Tribune columnist Kragthorpe wrote: "RSL's whacky season ends the right way." Lol. There is some truth to that.
Words are just that, words. They can say they had heart, they can say they want it, but in the end, their actions speak louder. Please explain how they had a lot of heart and fight to end the season with 4 losses and 2 ties? There was plenty of heart and desire in the 1st half last night. Definitely not any in the 2nd half. They looked more than contend to play around with the ball in the defensive half and let Portland mostly do what they wanted. Unless there is a huuuuuge shift in their mentality and discipline, we won't make it past Seattle. Playing with 0 heart and desire is not how you prepare for the playoffs. One or two games like this isn't much of a concern, but we're looking at 6 games of this.
Yep. Zero heart. That's what they have. They've been fighting all season, through thick...well, mostly thick, to stay on top. And have eventually been worn down, for sure. Who hasn't? I know I was starting to look forward to the end of this season, just begging for it to end, really, and I'm just a fan. But I go through what they go through. I've gone through the super high highs and the lowest of the lows with them, and I couldn't wait. What a relief. If they say good riddance, I say more power to them. This will be like a new start if they throw off the regular season and with Kyle coming back. A new slate. They took their foot off the gas after they qualified for the playoffs? Why, yes they did. Even just a little is enough. And then they were fighting the desire to just reach the end of the season with the need to keep going and fighting, after that. At least they got ties as a result. The second half, they let up. I think they'd thought they had it won, had the game under control, it's not like the Timbers looked that threatening AND I think they were thinking about it - the end of the season is almost here! I know I was thinking that. But I was also worried that they were playing with fire the second half. Two conflicting goals, I'd say. You want to win, you think you will, you're playing, but battling one thing - all you can see is that finish line. That's not a lack of heart. That's a lack of focus! And what Nick stated supports my findings. But let the Sounders think RSL has no heart. It'll be their funeral.
