Huh...I just noticed that this game is on Sunday. Anyone know why? I guess the Earthquakes attendance can't get any worse...so why the hell not?
Quakes will be missing Lenhart, Gordon, Chavez and Beitashour...and no longer have Dawkins (at least until the summer). That'll probably help.
Looks about right to me except for is Gil back with the team and available to play? If he's not, who fills in for him? I don't think Stephenson can go too long without getting gassed, and as such would probably be brought in as a second half substitute. So maybe we'll see Stertzer or Viana?
I'm not sure on Gil, but the final U20 match is Sunday so probably no Gil. I like Sebas up top and Grabs on the left or right, Stephenson and Viana shared that spot I think on Saturday, so I would think they got more traction on it than a fresh college rookie. But hey did we predict Velasquez would start last year against LA?
Looking back at the DDC Final starting lineup I think we'll see Stephenson on the left or right to start the game. Whoever ends up on the field, I'm excited for the season to start. I can tell that this week is going to drag on forever.
This has the potential to be a very ugly game. We have a lot of missing key pieces, as does San Jose, but most importantly: we're playing san jose. Ugly football at it's finest
I think one of the keys will be how much physical play the refs allow. If they allow SJ to manhandle us, it might be a long game.
So you're saying that it'll be 'smear the queer' and Plata will get a red card for tugging on a jersey as he gets mugged?
Just read a tweet that says Gil is coming back to RSL for Sunday's match. https://mobile.twitter.com/mexicoworldcup/status/306557851726405634
I was getting tired of waiting for the season to begin before December even ended. Now I'm like that guy on the roller-coaster having second thoughts right as the ride starts. Game Predictions: Plata scores a hattrick in the first 5 minutes SJ gets 3 red cards SJ is forced to use all three of its substitutions in the 1st half to replace the defenders who's ankles were broken by Velasquez's amazing dribbling skills. RSL's has 100% possesion, Jason requires medical attention for his heart attack Rimando gets bored and decides to play as a 3rd forward managing to score twice. The game ends 40-0 RSL goes on to lose all their remaining games due to karma
Whenever we play san jose i hope, honestly, that we win by some horrendous ref decision. To watch their fans cry for the whole season to follow would be awesome. Sabo should score three hands of god goals. Rimando should save a penalty by coming way off his line. Lenhart should get hurt from watching. Wondo should miss sitters like he does in a usmnt kit
I love how much they would talk about karma, yet they have Lenhart, one of the biggest hacks. He's always been a dirty player. They have absolutely no room to talk with a guy like that on the team.
Close to my prediction: RSL has 100% possession, still loses 2-0. I'm more of a "glass ain't full" kind of prognosticator.
Isn't it odd that up until 2 years ago we had total dominance over SJ? Now, just one year from being completely smoked by them, we think of them as the bogeyman.
We dominated them? We had 2 great openers there but it wasn't RMC style dominance by any means. One of whomever scores for SJ against us in this game will eventually play for RSL. Mark my words
2 great wins on the road to begin each season and smoking them at home like 4-1 (while Buschy cries like a baby) is pretty much dominance in our parity driven MLS world. They destroying us 3 times in one season last year also fairly reverses that trend. Isn't Jean Alexandre still on their team?
