RSL announced today that Neil Diamond is coming in concert on July 28. I'm not a Neil Diamond fan - in fact, I think in the elevator to hell they'll be playing Neil Diamond. But this concert is a great get. It will command high ticket prices and it will be an easy sellout thanks to my parents' generation - they have lots of disposable income and poor taste...exactly what you need to sell out a Neil Diamond concert.
Early Neil Diamond actually rocks - check out this review for details. Truly good stuff, and he wrote sons for many of the top acts of the late 60s to boot.
Neil Diamond is the greatest songwriter of ours or any other generation. Haven't you seen Saving Silverman? I love Neil, and will be there with the bra tossing 50+ year olds on July 28th!
I love that the guy doesn't sing songs. He talks through them. It's irritating as hell. All those wannabe Boston Red Sox fans from this state can go get their Caroline on. You old dudes have some seriously weird tastes in music
I'd go see the concert, but I don't care for cultural cheese. I have silly and misguided inlaws though, I'm sure they're rejoicing.
I agree. I wasn't a big Neil fan before watching that movie, now I can't get enough. LOL There were a few trades and such today. Union signed a waived Whitecap player. And Montreal traded Mr Expansion Draft (Riley) from Seattle to Chivas for Mr Skyline High/My Mom is Nuts Justin Braun and some other midfield guy. But with Ching and Montreal in flux there should be a few more trades in the next week at least.
Neil Diamond's score to Jonathan Livingston Seagull, the Movie was epic. Come on, RSL fans, Turn on Your Heartlight!
I found it interesting that he never once said he wanted to play pro for RSL. He seemed to indicate that he wanted to play pro for Vancouver and TFC but mostly he just wants to go to Europe. I don't blame him, but you would think at this point, in an interview, he would at least say things like he wants to play for RSL some day.
We only waived one player. Is there a time limit for Real to waive others before they have to pay them for next season?
The team only waived one player (meaning they renounced any claims to the rights for the player). However, the team has until Dec 1st to decide on options and whether or not to make qualifying offers to out of contract players. If they don't then those players would go through the two-stage re-entry draft (as opposed to going through waivers).
If he's with the RSL Academy, he must be brand new. I think I've got those rosters pretty much memorized by now.
