    Don't forget Cody Arnoux.

This leaves RSL's forward situation as follows:
    Espindola
    Saborio
    Paulo Jr.
    Cody Arnaux
    Alvarez (MF/FW)

Will and Andy have also played that position before (although I don't believe RSL has ever used Will there), so they could also step up in a pinch.

RSL's current roster size - 25. The max roster size is 30. However, if a team desires they can leave up to two of their minimum salary spots ($32,600) vacant and use $35,000 from each of those spots as allocation money. I wonder if they plan on doing that. It will be interesting to see if they do actually pick up a "home grown player" or two to fill the other three spots, possibly leaving a space or two open in case a juicy midseason transfer comes up.

Per Lagerwey, they plan on using up to 26 spots. They will have 18-19 senior spots, four supplemental spots, and 1-2 homegrown's. They could start season with only 24.

Arnoux is still recovering from surgery. He essentially had the same surgery as Sabo. However, Sabo's was in an ideal spot on the knee (for recovery) - Arnoux's was not. I'd be surprised if he plays in any match in the next 2-3 months.

Don't expect Mikey within the next 3 or 4 months at least. If he ends up joining the team it's likely to be late in the year.

    the reasoning for this...?
because they are in the middle of their season?

Is that because Mikey Orellano is in school until June?

For those who aren't on the twitters (or who check Bigsoccer first), there are a couple of really good interviews with Bill Manning available at SoccerAmerica (Ridge Mahoney) and KIR (realslfan) about the business of the team.

    Some tidbits
    And from KIR:

There's also a great story at the end of the SA article that Manning relates about choosing to let Kreis run the team when he (Manning) could have stepped in to try to do things his way. It's nice evidence that our president, coach and GM can work together effectively.

I missed the "re: campos" part of your post and thought you were relating yet another physiological response of yours to something the team did.

my favorite campos memory was his exchange with saborio last summer which ended up with a beautiful, perfect, chip to sabo in the box who buried a nice goal. cant remember who it was against, but the quick passes and great finish was textbook. i remember it was an afternoon home game, maybe against Philly.

EDIT: damn im good, 70' minute of the philly game last may. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter-recap/rsl-stay-unbeaten-home-rout-union

That was a good goal. I also liked his goal off of a quick pass from Andy Williams in the KC game of '09. A couple of quick passes and a goal. IIRC, this was one of the only road wins of the season, and the points helped big time in helping us into the playoffs.

I thought that goal should go in the, "How to play Soccer" dvd under "Forwards playing together."

Maybe when Donovan comes to town in a couple weeks, he can help out with the pitch like he did in Guadalajara a few years back. :D

Interesting tidbit about Chivas signing Mondaini (on loan):

Mondaini played at Emelec in the 2006 season. That year the team had alot of success. Mondaini had alot of assists, many of them to...Luis Miguel Escalada who scored 29 goals that season. It was the best season of both players careers, and both of them have talked about getting together again. I wonder if there was a chance of that in 2009?

Also interesting to note that he's friends with Fabi.

Oh well, I don't think a player with the nickname "el Diablo" would have gone over that well in Utah anyway. Kind of like if someone brought in a player with the nickname "Booz". Oh, nevermind...;)

Good chance he won't be there though...US plays Argentina that day and there's a good chance they'll be calling the full A squad in for the match.

I agree... considering where we've been..... that is an unbelievable article.... but I think we need another season or two of goodness to really have arrived at being a 'model' franchise. But I love the direction we're headed.

its incredible when you think about it, in 5 short years we've gone from being a franchise EVERYONE mocked (from the name, to the players, to the way we played, where we played, the historically BAD results, etc) to a franchise that everyones wants to be. its a true testimony to Uncle Dave, Garth Lagerway, Jason Kreis, Del Hansen and everyone involved in the team. they've listened to the fans (for the most part) and have turned that sinking titanic into one of those ridiculous luxury cruise liners. it was a freaking roller coaster, but man im glad to have been a part of this thing from day one. i wouldnt have it any other way.

probably the one quote that smacked me in the face the hardest, something i DID NOT expect at all:

its been what? 3 years? and kreis is the 3rd longest tenured coach in the league? wow. this league needs stability for teams to be successful and this stat alone explains why there is so much change in the standings from year to year.
