Forget the offseason thread - it's the week it all begins, and time for the in-season news thread.

Im with you! Im so excited as well!!

This should probably be in the other thread, but is there going to be some watch parties of some sort for any of the games this year? I like watching the games with just my buddies, but its just more fun when you have tons of people to watch it with...

RSL Front Office is trying to do a viewing party at the Stadium Club again, maybe this time without the $20 cover for food. Haven't heard anything new because of the CBA issues. I will recheck and post if I find out any thing.

I am sure something will be going on at the Republican downtown. Also, SL Pizza and Pasta/Fiddlers might be a spot to watch it (they say they will have it on, but no one has officially claimed it as a watch party spot).

Funny I was just thinking the preseason, and especially these last few weeks of "strike/don't strike" crap seemed to last forever.

are there any injuries on the squad currently? It seems we always come into the season with a knock or two (understandably)

Every away match will be on at the Republican, they've got all the various soccer TV packages so we're good to go.

damn seriously, the last month REALLY dragged on with all the ups and downs of the CBA negotiations.

i think i have watched/followed a little more EPL than usual this offseason, mainly because i was very interested in how jozy and donovan would do. i respect donovan as a player and it was good to see him go into merseyside and do some really good things. i hope he moves back there some day, he can advance his career and then the galaxy will be complete garbage for some time. its helped having that soccer outlet to carry me through the long MLS offseason.

the last week will surely take the longest though. its going to be rough. good thing classes ended for me last week, now i can waste tons of time surfing the netz while doing my projects in lab. trying to decide if i want to fork over the $40 for the new mlssoccer.com online feeds. if they are all they are cracked up to be i think ill do it. that way i can watch every RSL for sure.

Has anyone heard how much Direct Kick will be this year? Will there be any HD options for direct kick? Haven't seen anything on this with the season being in jeopardy over the CBA and all.

^ what the hell is this? ^

it came up around the playoff run last season (before the actual playoffs I believe though)... I like it, it emphasizes what this team seems to be about. The team as a unit, not one single person. It also is easy to convert to the rest of us as the fans

I can't wait for the season to start. I think that the CBA negotiations put a damper on my expectations and suppressed my excitement. Now that the season is on for sure I am stoked for Saturday.

    Whoops.

It read a little more like a post from a fan blog than objective analysis, but does have a nice summary of the offseason moves.

He's talking about how the media are focused on the national championship and the euorpean cups at this time and that the "calcio mercato" (the annual free agent free-for-all that is european soccer) will either pick-up after the world cup or take off before the world cup (I can't figure out which) due to the fact that all international players will be taken by their respective national teams for the world cup in the middle of may.

The author is probably an Italian language prof who is showing off his knowledge of the Italian language 'cuz it sounds like something you would read in Il Foglio or Il Sole di 24 Ore or some other boring italian newspaper. I have never encountered anyone who remotely talks like that over there.

Why it turned up on our blog, I have no idea.

Yeah that looks like it's copied and pasted from a paper - they are pretty loquacious in their papers, but nobody talks like that.

It turned up in the forum to try to get people to click the link. It's this thing called "spam."

i was hoping RSL's new website would be launched, as advertised "in the wee hours of thursday morning", but no dice.

why is it that MLS and its clubs have always had trouble running half way decent websites? remember last years RSL website debacle, with the absurd background that made it impossible to read half the webpages. then they fix it by making the whole background just black. a real half ass attempt at putting up a decent page. i have seen high school students make better webpages than last years RSL page. i had somewhat high hopes for this year, maybe i would actually go to the website every once in a while, but so far its not looking good.

the new www.mlssoccer.com page desperately needed a beta testing phase to work out the kinks, instead they role it out and the new matchday player less than 12 hours before the season kicks off. are these people that daff? right now the webpage is rough and the fact that they are limiting some people by using silverlight 3 is confusing. i just hope the matchday player works properly for this weeks games. some things never change i guess.

I'm not a computer tech savvy guy, but all i know the new www.mlssoccer.com is terrible! Is this a joke? Half the pages/articles i pull up have the words so mixed up i can't even read them. Awful.
