WOW!!! I really like Fabien Johnson, although pushing up has shown some weakness in our defense, which is to be expected. Should be 4-0, still can't figure out how Jozy missed that first chance. I know this isn't France, but it would have been nice to see this team v. France. KB having another solid game.
Best thing about the score, both forwards and our CAM Dempsey have the goals. 'Bout time those that should be scoring, are!
it's mind boggling over there, almost unanimous that beckerman should come off for someone.....could even "be replaced by your average bigsoccer poster" to quote a poster. i've said it a million times before, the people who post in that forum are so ********ing clueless they couldnt tie their shoelaces without help from their mom. beckerman is doing fine, he's holding down the d-mid area while bradley gets forward, clearing out balls and filling the passing lanes. the defense has been caught flat footed several times already and chandlers shitty positioning coupled with a high flat central defense got us burned for the goal. in no way, shape, or form was kyle at fault for the goal. just bad defending with poor communication. looks like the beckerman, bradley, dempsey, and johnson midfield is a winner so far.
yes and no I'm not a big fan of Dempsey at the AM spot as his defense has left us open quite a few times
where are the freaking yellow cards? slovenia are just slamming US players right now, thats at least 3 yellow worthy fouls and nothing so far.
beckerman should have done more there, got caught flat footed and the slovenian just danced around him and slotted it far post.
god, shea has looked like TOTAL shit these last two games. he's brought nothing to this game and has gotten smoked in the defensive third twice already. nothing dangerous from him at all.
what have i learned so far in this game?? Goodson shouldn't be on the National Team. If we defended like this against france we would have lost 12-0 We are lucky!!
all i have to say is ******** the idiots on the USA forum, seriously, those guys have pretty much no clue what they are talking about in all manners of the game. my favorite quote from the USA game thread (in response to a poster suggesting Shea may have suffered a concussion in the France game):
especially on ESPN3. For some reason, the US players kept blending into the field/fog on my feed. Made for some really entertaining moments. it's a win the first half was a whole lot better than the second, typically US. Taking off Buddle was the wrong move. He is better up top for us than Jozy
I know it's a friendly, but that tackle the Slovenia player put on Dempsey late in the game was red no matter the situation. He even had the juevos (or lack of respect for the official) to complain about having to come and receive the booking... wow the ref really lost control late. Lucky for him there wasn't too much on the line
seriously, i couldnt believe that. not only was that a borderline red (and IMO should have been a red given the breakaway play and the cynicalistic nature of the foul), but then he goes and shows up the ref throwing his arms at him telling the ref to come to him for the card showing. i was like, wtf is going on, this ref is a giant **********. friendly or not, there should have been a lot more cards in that match, almost all on slovenia. was there even a card issued for the penalty foul? i didnt see one.
I'm not at all bothered by them. I just consider the source. I mean, they call for someone who has been little used under BB or JK because he is obviously the best player since he plays for some European Third or Forth division club. (but it's European!) I am closely watching what JK does and who he uses.
Also, if you ignore the kiddies, there are enough mature, intelligent posters in the forum to make it worth a visit every now and again. I avoid the play-by-play threads like the plague, personally. The analysis threads usually have interesting insight.
Anyone who watched the Slovenia match today care to evaluate KB's performance? I don't trust the posters in the Nat's N&A forum either. I mean, is Edu/Jones/Bradley really that much better of an passer than KB? From what I've seen since JK came on: Passing: Edu < Jones < KB < Bradley I wasn't able to watch it all, but from what I saw, the CB pairing (Chandler/Goodson (?)) had a lot of issues.
