So five games into the season we've started 17 players already. Only five players have started all five games: Beckerman, Borchers, Gil, Grabavoy, and Saborio.
Posts like above two are why I pay big money to belong to BigSoccer. I truly appreciate the data that members compile and post here! Thank y'all.
Kind of funny that the average age between those guys is 32. I'm in favor of actually rotating those exact three players this weekend in Philly. Asking Beckerman and Sabo, in particular, to play with the travel they're are going to go through/have gone through has to be brutal.
The MLS Armchair Analyst had this note about the Union..Maybe we'll get some shots that way. 5. I'm starting to get concerned about Philadelphia's set piece defense. The Union have gelled in the run of play more quickly than I expected them to, but they are getting killed on restarts week after week after week. http://m.realsaltlake.com/news/2014/04/real-salt-lake-signs-justen-glad-homegrown-contract RSL signs Glad from the academy. say goodbye to Dillon.
Didn't even realize that Dillon was on the roster, all well. Glad sounds like quite the prospect, hopefully he can keep developing and become part of the next core of RSL in 2-3 years.
That's good and bad. Wish Dillon well. Hopefully he doesn't go back to NM and return to selling the blue stuff with Mr White.
So Philly. Beatable if we play decently. We're 2-0-3, Philly is 1-1-3 which is really one win turned into a loss. Not that different. One might argue that we've played better teams. For my part I'm feeling a little little glass-half empty. Yes we're undefeated but we were dominant only in one match (Toronto) and have skated by with points in the other matches against LA, San Jose, and SKC. Philadelphia's Results (1-1-3) 1-1 Draw @Portland 1-0 win vs. New England 2-1 Loss @ Columbus 1-1 Draw vs. Montreal 2-2 Draw @ Chicago Not exactly an amazing resume, and they're integrating a new piece which will probably hurt their chemistry. Definitely a match we could get points from. Hopefully we'll come up with a first-half-vs-SanJose type performance and steal 3 on the road.
Current RSL back-up to Nick Rimando, Jeff Attinella and former RSL back-up to Nick Rimando, Chris Seitz both up for Save of the Week. Of course, I voted for Jeff Attinella, but Seitz's penalty kick save was pretty good. However, I think that Philly's Zac MacMath (a great name for a high-school math teacher) will probably get it since he got a double save off C-Bus's Mike Magee's penalty shot.
The FO and players sure seem high on Justen Glad: Mini-Borchers? (Rimando's tweet is hilarious) Lagerway says Glad could be Beckerman's successor as captain

An interesting piece for all you tactical formation nerds out there. http://soccer.si.com/2014/04/04/tac...o-world-cup-michael-bradley-jurgen-klinsmann/
The article states that "Beckerman is a destroyer type of classic defensive midfielder" which immediately reminded me of Brazilian midfielder Dunga the Destroyer. Beckerman the Destroyer doesn't have the same ring to it, but it gets the message across.
For all you RSL fans who need your daily dose of MLS "You like me, you really like me" validation, here's this.
Beckerman the bruiser? Becks the bruiser? Kyle the killer? The Hair Tsunami? The Ragged Hair Renegade? Surely we can come up with something the fits better.
